Default 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' - High-Def Digest Review

Josh's review of 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' is up. He says it's one of Burton's stronger recent efforts. This Blu-ray has excellent picture and sound, as well as some solid extras. Recommended.

Good to know that it's a good disc. I did get it on Wed, but won't be able to watch it for a while.

Paramount is offering a rebate here for existing DVD owners ($10) too.

I think that they give $10 back if you have the DVD version and buy the Blu-Ray.

That may persuade me to upgrade.

Looks good. Now I just wish they or AVS would do a disc review for Beetlejuice, as both BJ and Sweeney seem like nice "lighter" movies for Halloween, and I want to know if Beetlejuice is worth it on Blu.

If you like the actual film, you will be very pleased with the Blu-ray version of Beetlejuice.

Our Beetlejuice review will be up soon.

I wouldn't consider Sweeney Todd a "light" movie.

Thank you for the information about Beetlejuice.

Light may have been a poor word choice on my part. I just view Tim Burton movies as more whimsical than I do as dark, although I know full well how others could see it from another point of view.

Beetlejuice was great on Blu-ray and I really enjoyed it. This is my review based off of the Blu version.

I just had to post here since I haven't posted since the war and I had gone crazy hoping for Sweeney Todd...now it's here...and yay it's a fantastic disc. I'm glad it finally came out! I never bought the dvd so I'm pleased (finally).

It is a great film and the A/V quality is some of the best I have seen on the format. I remember when this film was to release on HD DVD and it didn't, that was upsetting.

The video is bit for bit identical to the UK version. The audio however, is another story.
I'm just wondering...why is the Bitrate ALWAYS higher on this Dolby TrueHD
track than the Warner UK version? The UK version hovers in the 1-2 mbps range, while the US hovers in the 2-5 Mbps range. Why is this? Aren't they supposed to both hold the same information, if they are lossless tracks? Or does one come from a higher bit-rate master. I'm really just curious.
