Default The Rock and Crimson Tide still June 5?

I've been looking forward to these, although no websites seem to have them up for pre-order. Anybody know if they got delayed, or what the story is? Thanks.

This is a great thread. I, too, am curious if this date is set in stone. It's real strange that NO preorders have surfaced.

Another June 5 title, 'Cars' was suppose to come out on June 5 but Bill Hunt from www.thedigitalbits.com hears it will be September.

I believe that I read over on AVS, that The Rock will be delayed. But Crimson Tide, as far as I know, is still on track.

yea the rock, even though being awfully acted and played out, was great because of the action sequences and the fact that i like nic cage and the rest of the actors. i'm pissed that this is delayed but hopefully it will come out later in the summer.

It's unfortunate that Cars has been delayed, as well as Crimson Tide, The Rock, and Con Air.

Both HD disc formats need big titles to gain more awareness and adoption, and both are in dire need of kids' movies. A Disney/Pixar movie goes a long way to helping the situation.

On the flip side, as I don't have a Blu-ray player yet, it makes me feel better to know that there isn't that many A-list titles on the format that I would really miss. To my knowledge, Dances With Wolves still hasn't been put back on the schedule.

This isn't a dig at the Blu-ray camp, but it is a dig at the studios for announcing release dates for highly anticipated movies and then delaying them. The same goes for the HD DVD releases of Rio Bravo and The Cowboys that got bumped from their simultaneous release dates with the SD versions.

Wow. The blu-ray fanboys couldn't have spazzed out more during CES about the number of promised blu-ray releases and lack of HD DVD re-leases.

Announcements mean shit when you just keep pushing back the dates.

Agreed this only shows that the Blue Ray technology may be superior - but having the software available as promised is what counts. BTW the porn industry is backing HD-DVD so this certainly does not bode well for BR.

>well for BR.

Uh...this is such common knowledge that I thought it didn't need to be said, but apparantly I was wrong:

In the 1980s during Beta vs VHS, people bought porn on tapes.

In 2007, almost all of it is downloaded, and no physical media is involved.

What this means is that porn backing any format is practically a non-factor.
