Default 'Closer' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Closer' is up. Despite it's matinee idol cast, this one is hardly a mainstream date movie. Still, if you like your romances with a bitter twist, you may find 'Closer' a dark, rewarding journey. This Blu-ray release delivers on the bottom line -- the picture quality is quite good, and the audio (while boring) is technically solid. Peter's bottom line? Worth a look.

This is an excellent film. Both Clive Owen and Natalie Portman were Oscar nominated. I have the Superbit, but strongly recommend it for you Blu-ray guys.

I absolutely hated Closer. I like Mike Nichols and this type of character drama, but unfortunately I can't think of anything positive to say about this film.

One minor correction for the review: The music video is titled "The Blower's Daughter", not "The Farmer's Daughter".

I have to dust off this thread just to mention how inane this movie is. It is less than the sum of its parts. The acting is great, but what unnecessarily complex characters. Just like a government has a library of overly complex laws - this movie shows how stupidly complex people can make things including the producer, writer and director! Really, what person when told when they get dumped 30 minutes of interrogatories about the other person that's f'ing him/her. It's like a big, silly game and look, everybody ends up where they started! It's hard to like any of these characters at the end, and if they weren't so stupid - they could've had an awesome 4-way relationship.

I didn't like this, and it just made me want to snap the disc in half.
