Default 'The Strangers' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed 'The Strangers.' He says the movie had him on the edge of his seat, but he was somewhat disappointed in the lack of emotional depth. This Blu-ray is loaded with great video and audio, but some shabby extras. Give it a rent.

Fantastic Blu-ray, definitely one of my favorite Blu-ray releases ever. I have seen the Blu-ray 10 times already, love that movie.

I've heard a lot of things about this movie, none of them being positive. Actually, miserable seemed to be a common theme. But I am a genuine horror/suspense fan, so I think I might pick it up anyway.

False. They were happily a couple until she turned down his marriage proposal.

and the movie scares the hell out of me. Just the silence and creepiness of it.
The PQ is very good and the yellow overcast fits t he film very well. The AQ is excellent! I mean WOW is it creepy listening to this movie.

Movie: 4/5
PQ: 4.5/5
AQ: 5/5

Other than for VQ and AQ I don't bother letting Peter's reviews influence my purchases. His taste in movies is nothing like mine. 4.5 stars on VQ and AQ, give it a rent? Bridge to Terabithia, recommended?
Quote:
'The Strangers' is a well-crafted exercise in suspense, if an emotionally hollow experience. I can't deny I was often on the edge of my seat, but damn if I could find a reason for the film to exist. There is no doubt that this Blu-ray delivers excellent video and audio, though the extras are surprisingly lacking. 'The Strangers' is well worth a rental for horror fans, though I can't help but wish the film was a bit more ambitious in meaning and rich in theme.
Sounds like it does everything a horror movie is supposed to do.... Sacrilege in late October to say "Give it a Rent" because it wasn't as emontional as Old Yeller. Maybe Peter should stick to Disney reviews and let someone else handle the horror. What reason does any horror movie need to exist other than to keep you on the edge of your seat. Halloween is in 2 weeks. Hope my days aren't numbered since he is a big shot around here.

I haven't seen this yet, the trailer makes it look way too much like an Americanized Orphanage, am I wrong?
