Default 'The Happening' - High-Def Digest Review

Ken has reviewed 'The Happening.' His verdict? Well... you gotta read the review yourself. Let's just say he's not a fan. This Blu-ray has impressive video and audio, and yeah, there are some supplements, but still, ONE TO AVOID.

The movie really wasnt that bad. It's good if you're into post apocolyptic / disaster movies. I enjoyed it even though i thought there was alot of potential for it to be better.

I was so excited to see this movie when it came out. We were both, so disappointed. I would recommend renting it. I definitely wouldn't buy it.

Yep i was disappointed by this one too. That said i don't think it's as awful as the review makes it out to be. Its a 2-star film in my opinion. Nothing special but something you can watch when your in the mood for a disaster flick.

This review was spot on for the most part. This movie was ridiculously BAD. My only disagreement was the reason behind the half star : the well meaning actors in this film. If that was the criteria for giving this 1/2 star then I would have to give this 0 stars, because I thought the acting in this movie was as bad as the plot. Honestly, did anyone else notice that all the performers had the EXACT same look on their faces the ENTIRE movie?!? Don't get me wrong, I love end of the world / disaster movies, I even have a soft spot for semi-crap like Deep Impact, but this one truly takes the cake.

Anticlimactic? I thought the movie was pretty weak, but

Spoiler:
the scene where the protagonists walk out to meet each other in the middle, with hurricane-gusts in the background, believing that this is the end? That scene was very well done, perhaps the best in the movie.

In any case, it wasn't nearly as bad as Speed Racer, which was just two hours of facepalming. (Ninja fight? Really? I thought this was a racing movie...)

I really agree with Messin18. What I liked the most about it was the intriguing story approach it had, that really felted 'happening' and tensioned for the audience.

And a great role for J. Ledguizmo, I think his character was the most essential likable character in the films process, aside from that everyone did good, that half star for the film is very immature and dishonest with the film. The least this film warrants its a full three stars, sure its not The Sixth Sense or Signs, but just way above Lady in the Water thats for sure.

Peter should have had reviewed it, he seems more precise on how to acknowledge a film properly.

Talking about apocalyptical movies, did anyone see SouthLand Tales? If you did, was it better or worse than that end of the world comedy? Thanks.

I completely respect every reviewer's opinion as opinions, but I have never read a review on this site (or any other) where the reviewer talks out of their ass more. Maybe you are a disgruntled fan, or even not a fan at all (which is fine), but to fill your review with as much hokey as you have is unsettling.

Wait... WHAT?! This is Shamylan's best movie since Sixth Sense, and he is saying Shamylan has gone down hill? Did the reviewer miss Unbreakable, Signs, and The Village? Now those were glorified crapfests.

i thought it was decent. I am officially tired of what M Night makes his actors do. The "weird, distant" techinique is old.

Great Review Ken. The Happening really is the greatest piece of shit I've ever watched! It's not even worth 1/2 star.

This movie is not half star. It's not three stars, it's not two stars, but it's not half star. I mean, you gave Dragon Wars a full star but not The Happening? Like, MAJOR wtf here.

That's nothing: Dragon Wars (27%) smoked The Reaping (8%) on Rottentomatoes. Both crap movies, but apparently The Reaping (8%) is 4 times the movie The Happening (18%) is according to Kenny?

I wouldn't mind so much if some of these reviews had disclaimers stating: "I am only a person with an internet connection and Microsoft Word. My opinion is not professional." But that is not the case. Instead we get Ken's words of wisdom on Night's method and writing technique that he pulled out of his ass after a fart.

Actually, it is quite clear to me now: M. Night haters "whispered" there "best" "political agenda" to you. "It's a shame too."

Oh, and the "beyond faceless" villain is "beyond faceless" because it is not supposed to have a face.

Get a clue.
