Default 'Carrie' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed 'Carrie.' He says the film remains a seminal 70s horror classic. This Blu-ray has slightly improved video from past releases, but overall this one fails to deliver. Another $40 disc from MGM that offers NO REAL EXTRAS. Give it a rent.

Very sad...not exactly sure WTF MGM is doing but to not CARRIE (y) over the supplements from deluxe DVD versions is just bad manners...
One of my fave flicks but will sadly be taking a pass on this Blu-ray as well as all releases that come from studios that have intent on double dipping all of the titles on yet another format.
Enough is enough!

Another pathetic MGM release in a sad attempt to cash in on Halloween. With subpar pq/aq and absolutely no extras, they shouldn't even bother. Early adopters like us on this forum cough up so much money to support the format and are more than willing to double-dip on titles we already own on dvd, but for studios like MGM to offer a bare-bones version of a much-loved classic with such an expensive price tag is a slap in the face.

Looks like they just took the old master slap it on the disc and sell!

+1.
And as if that weren't enough, going by past MGM releases this will probably also be region-coded, adding another slap in the face to Euros and Aussies. There is simply no good reason to region-code an over 30 year old movie. Go to the idiot corner, MGM, and join that other retard, Fox.

Results of the official recount: 120 , 122 . I'm even more shocked.
Heavily into necrophilia - still enjoying 'dead' HD DVDs.

You really should see it - one of the best combos of horror and comedy out there, in my opinion (plus, y'know, girls in the locker room, for those who like that sort of thing ) - but it sounds like this release is a joke.

opening credit bush! but seriously, it'll start showing up used on Amazon in a few weeks for about $18, and I'll pick it up then.

I thought it looked pretty damn good. Personally, I'd rather a transfer like this that's imperfect but true to source than it be all dnr'd and edge enhanced. This is by far the best Carrie has looked on video and if you're a fan this is a must buy. Felt like watching it in '76 again!

But you might want to wait for a price drop. There's no doubt it's way overpriced.

I agree, while this is a great film, I do think that it is over priced for a bare bones disc which is a shame.

MGM even put a "Special Features button on the main menu. Thats right, special features with an "s." When you click on it, its just a drop down for the theatrical trailer. Why not just put a "Theatrical Trailer" button on the main menu..dumb MGM, real dumb. You would have sold plenty of these with a decent supplement package, I think the transfer was decent enough to warrant a purchase, but not with the lack of supplements.

I agree on the PQ, Carrie has NEVER looked this clear on home video. I picked up the special edition DVD for like $3 on Amazon for the extras, and put both in a double blu-ray case. Problem solved.
