Default 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed 'The (Original) Texas Chainsaw Massacre.' He says the film is dated, but still pretty damn scary. This Blu-ray looks poor by most standards, but this is the best the material has likely ever looked on home video. All in all, sound, video, and extensive supplements make this a must for Chainsaw fans.

Now there is an all-time classic quote....

I'm anxiously awaiting my copy to show up this week.

Default Classic!

I picked this up yesterday, and while at first I wasn't sure if the upgrade was worth it, I noticed that after I popped in my Darksky DVD and flipped back and forth on several scenes that this Blu Ray is actually quite an improvement. Like the review said, it is in no way referance quality, but compared to the standard def version, it's very nice looking indeed.

I also flipped back and forth btwn dvd and blu-ray. I only really noticed a minor improvement. And it's a bummer my dvd is the cool steel case edition and blu-ray is just normal.

I'm glad i only paid about $8 for the blu-ray from Family Video.

I've never owned this movie on any format, so pre-ordering the blu-ray for less than $9 was a no brainer. Looks and sounds great imo.

The remake is complete trash and comes no where close to the original. Yea Jessica Biel is hot, but just buy Stealth or some other movie with her in it if u just want to oogle her.

Question

The original Dark Sky DVD release had reported issues on the mono soundtrack with some missing sound effects:

When the Sally jumps out the window falls through the tree and hits the ground, the sound of her landing was missing from the mono mix.

A second hammer blow sound to the head of one of the characters was missing, as was some additional screams during another of the attacks.

Can anyone verify that the mono mix on the Blu-Ray has had the missing sound effect restored?

Little things, yes, but they were reported to Dark Sky, so it would be a shame if they were still missing in this new release.

I thought this movie had Spanish subtitles, but I don't see it anywhere on the review.

Could someone confirm, please? Or could Petter correct the Tech specs. on the left side of the review?

Thank you very much

I am rolling my sleeves & targeting the studios that do not have SDH or subtitles:
Image Entertainment
Echo Bridge Entertainment
Dark Sky Films
Magnolia Pictures
MVP Entertainment?

Definitely one of the most unpleasant films I've ever sat thru. And for a film like this, its a compliment.

In that respect Tobe Hooper has made for me one of the best horror films I've ever seen. The whole film has this nighmarish feel to it that just works for scaring the pants off me.

Part of me wants to buy this, but part of me is a little scared!
