Default 'Night Watch' - High-Def Digest Review

Josh's review of 'Night Watch' has been posted. He says it's interesting, but he didn't love it. This Blu-ray has decent video and sound and some bland extras. This is a rental.

Is the Japanese BD different from the US version? Cause my PQ & AQ was top notch.

Yeah, I disagree Josh. It looks and sounds better than your ratings, IMO.

PQ/AQ wise.

I rented this a week ago. It's worth watching once, but I wouldn't buy it. I think the PQ is better than the review says, but I agree with the AQ rating. It's LOUD, but not necessarily great.

Does the Japanese version have the cool subtitles? I don't know why they weren't included on this one.

i like these movies but they are confusing, the imagery is badass though. I was holding off on these for the review, kinda sad to hear about the low scores, I thought it would be better.... probably just wait for bargain bin then.

BTW, the BD release of Nightwatch is Unrated. I had the two-pack on SD and that version of Nightwatch was rated R.

Misprint???

BOTH Nightwatch/Daywatch on BD are UNRATED.

No its stated in the review what the "unrated" actually is, its the international version with dubbed over intro to the movie in english and it runs 10 minutes shorter than the russian theatrical version, I'm not sure if the R rated regular DVD is the russian theatrical or not, my guess is no it isnt and leave it to FOX to mess up something else again, I'm really getting tired of their not putting much effort into these Blu-rays

Yeah, the SD did have the English dubbed voice over intro.

Is there a difference between the R-rated version that played in American theaters and the "Unrated" American home video release? IMDb only lists two versions, with the "short" one being 114-minutes, the same as this BD.

The DVD version says nothing about being "Unrated" and yet also has a 114-minute length.

I was assuming that the "Unrated" tag was just a marketing ploy to match the sequel, which genuinely has more footage than its American theatrical release.

I couldn't tell.

I think you're right about the marketing ploy.

I have the Japanese set and unless they fucked up the US discs, those ratings are a load of c.o.c.k. Much like Mr. Bracke's reviews in general.
