Default 'Land of the Dead' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has revisited those "cuddly zombies" in 'Land of the Dead,' a film he says falls somewhere in the middle of George Romero's zombie quadrilogy. This Blu-ray offers the same strong video as the previous HD DVD, adds high-res audio, and all the previous extras. Give it a rent.

I'm getting it as part of the Horror bundle next week.

Wow, Peter, 2 1/2 stars?

I wonder what you thought of "Diary of the Dead".

No I don't.

I have the HD DVD edition and i will say I thought the transfer was pretty solid. I dug it. I am sadden however by the weak PiP feature.

I cant wait for next week there are so many good releases coming out. oh off topic but has anyone heard how the Salem Witch trials movie is it comes out next week and is only $8 so i was wondering if its worth picking up.

Salem Witch Trials blows. Ive been burned by shitty Echo (Mortuary and Savage) so I won't be touching any more of their films.

2 1/2 is fair for land of the dead. it is a fun film, and i loved the HELL outta it. but seriously, it's not a GOOD film, and it's a pretty par zombie film, nothing special, just a fun ride.

I'm a huge fan of zombie movies...and this one just blew hard...It could barely even keep my attention when I rented it...I had a better time watching Fido or Flight of the Living Dead...I'm down with this review.

Land of the dead is the worst of his movies i've seen. It's a pretty good zombie movie and i love zombie movies but it's definilty one of his weakest.

The amazing thing he did with Night, Dawn, and Day was even with slow moving zombies he was able to make it work and show realistic over running of the people. However in this movie it just didn't work. Several scenes like the one where the zombies push down the fence and overrun the first military outpost. It just looked like shit. Wasn't realistic... didn't seem possible... first time i felt that way about a romero movie.

Anyway i'll still be getting this.

But how does everyone feal about this being the same price as the HD DVD combo disk?

No you're not. Flight of the Living Dead??? That better be sarcasm, otherwise I've got a troll grenade you can sit on.

Um, it's a zombie movie. Last time I checked it was neither supposed to be realistic nor possible.

haha, I only mentioned flight of the living dead to draw attention to how utterly terrible this movie is...sure you could argue "to each his own" but I say HORRIFIC (and not in a good way sirs!)

Own it in HD. After rewatching it,, I learned it just really all that grade.
I huge downgrade from Dawn of the Dead, but at least better than Diary of the Dead
