Default 'Hulk (2003)' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Hulk' has been posted. He says the movie isn't perfect, but it's better than its reputation would suggest. This Blu-ray trumps the previous HD DVD and adds an exclusive picture-in-picture track. Recommended.

I could've sworn in the original HD DVD review Peter gave Hulk 5 stars for audio and now it's 4.5 stars.

Maybe I'm still in shock from the hated Cowboys winning tonight.

So they used TrueHD? I wished Universal will stay with DTS-HD master audio like Fox.

Not as bad as its reputation... boy... wtf is wrong with you? I shoudl smack you. This movie is down right dreadful and the only thing that is worse than it is Elektra.

Hulk is DTS-MA, not TrueHD!

Perhaps that's why it's not the audio upgrade he thought it would be?

Probably would have been better with TrueHD, like the Paramount titles.

DTA-MA easily trumps TrueHD. I noticed absolutely NO difference in True HD and regular Dolby Digital, but DTS-MA sounds better than DTS.

Wow, pretty underwhelming in terms of the specs.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a five start usually means it's reference, right???

So if the flick gets a five start for PQ and 4.5 for the AQ, why isn't this being conveyed in the review as reference???

Call me picky.

Uh boy, here we go again.

The only thing TrueHD doesn't have is the bomb, or the edgy shrillness (as noted in reviews comparing Shine The Light and End Of Days. Perhaps DTS is short for Destroy The Speakers?

They are both lossless codecs.

DTS-MA is better.........because it includes a 1.5 meg DTS soundtrack for those us still in optical audio connector world.

<ignoring technical mumbo jumbo that always freaks people out>

Hulk....i watched it again for the first time earlier this year on HD DVD, and i really liked it a LOT less than i originally did. i'm conflicted as to pick this up, on dvd or blu, to keep in my collection. and for ME to be conflicted, considering my tastes, that's bad. gimme the sex crimes and shit eating of Salo and i'm preordering the title, gimme a big bad ass green guy smashing shit, and i'm waiting? god that sounds like i have my priorities outta whack.

''We've come a long way from Lou Ferrigno in tights..''

However the original series with Bill Bixby and Lou Ferrigno buries this non-sensical movie in every way.

640k DD is equally transparent to the source. It also has night mode for those of us up at all hours wanting to watch a film, or for those with kids & spouses that complain that the movie is "getting too loud"..."I have to turn up & down the volume all the time" and so on.

TrueHD also has a night mode.
