Default "8 Mile", "Jarhead", "The Kingdom" / November 18th/25th

Quote:
Universal Studios Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of three catalogue titles in November. Arriving first on 18th November is 8 Mile, followed on 25th November by Jarhead and The Kingdom. SRP is $29.98 each or you can pick up the 25th November titles as part of an ‘Action/Thriller’ bundle pack for $59.98.

Universal have so far not used region coding on their Blu-ray Disc titles and we expect this trend to continue, though officially no region coding information has been supplied. Features are detailed below…

8 Mile

* BD-25 Single Layer
* 1080P Widescreen
* English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
* French and Spanish 5.1 DTS Surround
* English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles
* The Making of 8 Mile
* Exclusive Rap Battles – Uncensored
* Superman Music Video – Uncensored

Jarhead

* BD-25 Single Layer
* 1080P Widescreen
* English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
* French and Spanish 5.1 DTS Surround
* English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles
* Feature Commentary with Director Sam Mendes
* Feature Commentary with Screenwriter William Broyles, Jr. and Author Anthony Swofford

The Kingdom

* BD-50 Dual Layer
* 1080P Widescreen
* English 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio
* French and Spanish 5.1 DTS Surround
* English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles
* U Control - Picture in Picture
* Deleted Scenes
* Character By Character: The Apartment Shootout
* History of The Kingdom: An Interactive Timeline
* Constructing The Freeway Sequence
* Creating The Kingdom
* Feature Commentary With Director Peter Berg

As with previous Universal Blu-ray titles the U-Control PIP function on The Kingdom is most likely just another way to access the bonus material (as opposed to offering any new content). There’s also a good chance of a PIP track on Jarhead with the remaining DVD extras not listed above, as this is something they often forget to include details of in these early announcements.

Call me crazy, but I'd love to own 8 Mile on Blu... it's unlike any other movie in my collection and it's the best "hip-hop" movie I can think of.

I have Jarhead & The Kingdom (UK) on HD DVD, so just 8 Mile.

Who owns the rights to EMINEM'S Oscar Best Soundtrack "Lose Yourself?" Why can't they include it?

That would be AWESOME. 8 Mile was definitely one of the best hip hop soundtracks for a movie to come out in quite some time (competing mostly with Puffy's "Bad Boys II" soundtrack). You have an Oscar-winning track by Eminem in "Lose Yourself", an all-star line up in 50 Cent (when he was still good), Jay-Z, G-Unit, and countless others.

I highly doubt this would ever be included on the blu, but what a great idea!

Really starting to wonder where Serenity, Pitch Black and the Bourne movies are. These strike me as filler before the main event.

And am really starting to wonder where the good Universal titles are yet to be scheduled for a Blu-ray release. We need desperately the following:

Children of Men
(a must) previously HD DVD
King Kong (2005) previously HD DVD
Atonement previously HD DVD
American Pie & American Pie 2
The Breakfast Club previously HD DVD
Hot Fuzz previously HD DVD
Bourne Trilogy (of course) previously HD DVD

I agree that 8 Mile should be considered for a release, but before HD DVD exclusive titles, I dont think so. Most have gotten re-issued on Blu and we havent seen the best ones yet.

It still is messing with my head but why is 8 Mile being bundled with these two flicks?

I loved 8 Mile and The Kingdom but they are not similar at all. Kingdom and Jarhead is understandable but 8 Mile???
