No discernible difference in PQ while watching the movie. Anyone that tells otherwise is looking thru tinted sunglasses with an alcoholic beverage on the side
 After the dissappointing releases of some Blu-ray titles these past few months due to bad, ugly transfers and excessive use of DNR with some EE sprinkled on the top, it has shown incontrovertible proof that bitrates alone can not dictate PQ. The transfer quality of the movies also has to be taken into consideration. With Transformers both criteria has been satisfied. No DNR, No EE. Same transfer used from the previous HD DVD (released last year). It was grainy, sharp and of course since this is Bay's movie, boosted contrast and lots of len's flare. Paramount did a good job on this one (not unlike other studios lately) and deserves praise for "leaving it alone". The AQ has always been a hot topic for this HD release. Is it better sounding than the lossy Dolby Digital Plus? In my setup it just plays a liitle bit louder. If you are still using your TV speakers and your "home theater in the box speakers" to hookup your PS3 or BD player, then don't worry about all of this. Once you upgrade to a HDMI receiver that decodes lossless sound and match that with a real 5.1 or 7.1 speaker setup maybe then you will be able to hear the difference. Reference PQ and AQ. On first glance i thought the HD DVD version looked better but after another look it is the same as the blu-ray version as expected.
That DVD shot is shocking,i forgot how bad DVD was

DVD has always looked that way, nothing new. There is just no detail in DVD when compared to HD DVD or Blu-ray Disc.

is this supposed to be news that bitrate is not the godsend of mankind for blu pq quality?
people will eventually figure it out. sure an insane bitrate can help, but imo the overall quality of a release is almost wholly dependent on simple intelligent choices made in areas such as ee, dnr, etc, etc.
