You people are ludicrous. The moment I hit ten posts, I will prove to you that HDDVD has more jaggies.

I was referring to some person a few pages back who insulted people by saying that we were fooling ourselves in thinking it was better just because it was Blu. It is better though, no matter how minute.

Yeah, but its better like a car that goes from 0-60 in 6.5 seconds over a car that goes 0-60 in 6.7 seconds. Technically better on paper but its basically the same thing.

Something that small could easily be the output of the player. |

Anyway the HD DVD version video was encoded at the maximum possible bitrate for the format taking into account the formats bandwidth and size. That is why there was a lack of lossless audio as it would have taken up too much space on the disc. The Blu-ray version is at a much higher video bitrate and still there is room for lossless audio. If HD DVD had won the format war lossless audio would always be the exception rather than the rule. Fortunately we now have the situation where all the movie studios with the exception of Warner are using lossless audio on all titles. |

Also, bitrate isn't always greater on blu-ray - the new BD version of U-571 has a lower average bitrate (although it does have higher peaks) than the HD DVD version, added DNR to cope with the low bitrate and a loss of many of it's extras. Sure, it has lossless DTS-HD MA now but the PQ is worse and it has less extras. Blu-ray has the potential to be better than HD DVD and many times it is.... but, that BD-25 is making it a lot harder to say that it's better every time. |

bla bla bla. Blu Ray is more capable, yes OKAY. I agree. But if you sit and tell me that the video on Transformers on Blu is better...than I'll tell you it fucking aint. |

You cetainly can't tell the difference when watching the movie. On a still frame blown up, yes, but I don't watch my movies one frame at a time at 200% to 300% original size.
I hope no one else does either. Otherwise they have some serious issues.
