Man. The DVD version looked worse than I though (Xylon, is this upconverted DVD or standard DVD?)

As for Blu-Ray vs HD DVD. There really is little if no difference. But the format war is over so at this point we would just be splitting hairs..

HDM FTW!!!!

As always your pics are great and appriciated but I sure do prefer when they are setup with the overlap mouseover effect. It makes them much easier to see the difference.

bitrate doesn't tell the whole story but to simply ignore it is very ignorant. at the end of the day, I would rather have the bitrates be almost double on the format that gives it that opportunity than the format that hampered it.

I don't quite get why anyone is even discussing the bitrate if the AVC transfer is identical...of course the bitrate is going to be higher with a TrueHD soundtrack. What really surprised me was this.

MPEG-4 AVC Video 690 kbps 480p / 23.976fps / 16:9 / High Profile 3.2

I didn't realize that they actually included a 480p version of the movie on the disc itself. I had assumed that the players simply down-rez'd the 1080p to 480p. What a waste of space. But at the same time, incredibly fascinating that they can use MPEG-4 to knock down 480p video to 690kbps??? Wow.

Am I interpreting the info correctly?

lol yeah that is exactly what I was thinking.

The Optimus shot on the DVD really reminded me just how bad SD is compared to HD

Wow! truly a big reason why i dont ever want to buy SD DVD's. Look at Megan in SD and then on the HD/Blu version! Totally a big difference.

This is a good example for the rest of the consumers that are still with DVD's to watch these stills and see what they are missing, and in no time everyone has already jumped to High Definition.

You can open each picture in diffrent tabs and just switch back and forth. They look pretty much the same. although...in the 2nd, the brown robot looks just a hair sharper (his face moslty). obvioulsy you would never know when watching the movie...just pointing it out.

megan fox looks good...

Maybe Im crazy but switching tab to tab between pictures it looks like the blu ray version does have some DNR applied. It looks noticeably less grainy than the HDDVD version.

I agree with Elee's statement. The BD seems to have a tiny, tiny bit less grain. By the same token, Optimus Prime's arm seems to be a tiny, tiny bit sharper on the BD, whereas the HD DVD seems to have tiny, tiny jaggies.

Great work Xylon!
