Default 'Secret Window' - High-Def Digest Review

We just posted Kenneth's review of 'Secret Window.' He had issues with the film itself, but as Blu-ray release, this one delivers on the bottom line, earning a pair of 4 star (out of 5) ratings for both video and audio.

That number of subtitle tracks doesn't seem too strange... I randomly grabbed a Sony dvd off my shelf (Cruel Intentions) and it had 17... I wouldn't say 23 was madness. Sony are probably cutting authoring costs down and making a disc which can be sold anywhere. That number of subtitles is fairly standard for a European release.

edit: I've looked through a few more and most discs only have English on.... I must have got lucky with a 17er. Gladiator had 18 though and I'm sure I've a film somewhere which has 30-40 different subtitle tracks.. can't remember what though.

Final Thoughts

As a Stephen King fan, I had some issues with 'Secret Window' as filmed adaptation of King's work, but others will likely enjoy this supernatural thriller with some strong performances from John Turturro and Johnny Depp. While a lacklaster supplements package drags down the overall grade for this Blu-ray release, it certainly delivers on the bottom line, boasting solid audio and video that are sure to please your senses.
I totally agree with the Video / Audio star ratings and verbal description. I also agree that the 480p (Standard Definition) Special Features taken from the DVD release really make this Blu-ray Disc's overall score suffer. I'll score it about the same for the Video, Audio, Bonus Materials. But I differ from Kenneth's opinion on the movie itself's rating... but that's just me, everyone has their own opinion and that's what makes reviews great!
