Default Disney Reveals Five Platinum Titles Coming To Blu-ray In The Next Two Years

Disney is sending in the troops. The company will release five “platinum” titles from its library in the Blu-ray format over the next two years, hoping that classic animated movies will spur wider interest.

The films are “Pinocchio,” “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Fantasia,” “Fantasia 2000” and “Beauty and the Beast.” The company, which normally staggers new releases of its most popular movies, had previously announced plans to introduce one such title, “Sleeping Beauty.”

Quite a line-up. Both of the Fantasia movies should be fantastic as well as Beauty and the Beast.

I would have much preferred Aladdin, Lion King instead of the two Fantasia's right now. Yet let me clarify for any Disney purists out there, yes these are masterpieces and I enjoy them lol Time to sell off my Fantasia Anthology set

Good stuff for the naysayers against BD-Live...

“BD Live is not a niche product,” Mr. Chapek said. “We see mass adoption of the technology.”

Knew about Pinocchio... the others not so much.... very happy about the news though. Fantasia and Beauty and the Beast are must buys for me.

I hope they continue what they are doing to Sleeping Beauty with these titles. A bonus DVD would be welcome and the 7.1 tracks.... oh, me likey.

A bit off topic in a way... but, have you guys seen the ads on the right saying Disney DVDs on sale. It says the VOLT movies instead of VAULT? Im sure this is legit.

I think everyone wants The Lion King.... which is precisely why we didn't see it in this first batch.... they need to build up the anticipation to it's highest possible point for this title - then release it so the masses trample each other to finally get their hands on it.

Call WDSHE to see if they have any replacement discs in stock, they charge $6.95 per disc when they do. You might get lucky.

that actually makes sense. Pinocchio is their next release after Sleeping Beauty, Snow White and the 2 Fantasia's are long out of print, and Beauty and the Beast seems logical in line. After that, Lion King will be in the qeue.
