Kenneth has reviewed 'Justice League: Season One.' He says it's a little more open to criticism than later seasons. This Blu-ray has good video (albeit it again open for debate concerning the aspect ratio), underwhelming audio, and some nice supplements. This one is worth a look.

The movie rating is spot on. Justice League is gr8.
Although, I find the hate on Newbern is unwarranted, hell even Bruce Timm takes blame for this "passive" kind of Superman. This is fixed in later seasons.

![]() I didn't mean you directly hating on Newbern, as I noticed that you said his performance "was limp compared to the second season," but I've always found Tim Daly got too much love by the fans, and that in general, fans did not appreciate Newbern's performance enough. He was in Father of the Bride, man! Father of the Bride!

Great review!!!
Nice to see the set is worth a purchase. If I can nab the set cheap, I'll upgrade. I have the whole DCAU on DVD already. I'm looking forward to the really cool packaged Batman Animated coming soon on DVD. As I'll gladly buy multiple versions of Batman Animated. Anyway, I really wished they included both versions(Widescreen and Foolscreen). Especially since they didn't make the special features HD. It seems they dropped the ball slightly on that. It could have been the definitive release. Hopefully, the store near me will get it. It should be $25 or so from them.

The problem with Season Ones Superman wasn't Newbern. The problem was the creaters made Superman a wimp. They thought that in order to emphysis a threat they should have it beat up Superman and make you think "wow it beat up Superman it must be a tough threat" to a limited degree this can work but when used too much all it did was make Superman who should have been the leagues most powerful member its weakest. For example in the chase with deadshot an electronic charge knocks Superman out for most of the chase. Such a charge should not have done that much damage to the man of steel. Future Seasons would fix this problem. Season Two in an attempt to makeup for wimping up Superman in Season One made Superman more baddass then he ever has been. Hopefully that Season will be on Blu-Ray soon.

In later seasons Superman claimed to be "holding back" so as not to show up the other heroes. I think this was Timm's way of covering up Supermans lack of action in season 1.
Looks like I will once again be double dipping, as I must collect all comic book related media. ![]()

Bingo. With HDTV I thought this stupid shit was over. Besides the aspect ratio of almost all HDTV's now are naturally WS unless Warner is dumb enough to assume all or most of the people who bought this own early model HDTV CRT's.

Except with Justice League Season 1 the aspect ratio isn't so clearly define. Sure, the producers prefer it one way...but it was animated for another way.
So really, it goes either way. I think it would have served them better to offer both versions on the same set. That way, it gives fans/collectors both versions.

"At thirty years old, I’m amazed that a cartoon series can still captivate my imagination."
Why? Animation is a fantastic media it's no surprise to me that it can captivate my imagination, it's common sense to anyone open to it. The Jetsons still captivate my imagination.. or is that not cool to admit too?

Aww what the hell!!!!!!
This is such crap! I haven't been on the forums since the BD/HD DVD "war" ended but this shit has brought me back. I just have to speak up and rage on the stupidity of Warner Bros. How in the world do you present an Widescreen source in a 4:3 image?! HDTV IS widescreen ! I thought that was the whole frikken point! It's not like this doesn't have a widescreen version like some movie before cinemascope. Why?! I'm just at a loss for words. I wanted to buy this soo badly, but now I cant. I can't support WB in this ridiculous farce. Who the heck has a 4:3 HDTV? Do they even exist? Do they think that people with BDs just play them on regular TVs? Who are these people and why are they not educated? ARGH! I just want to punch the guy that thought that a widescreen cartoon for HDTV, that are ALL widescreen, should be cropped and shown with "OMG! I have black bars on the sides!" on HDTVs. When will it end? ![]() ![]() ![]()

Ugh. Didn't you people liked 'more is better'?
Well newsflash folks! This 4:3 version *is* more! You don't lose anything! Use the zoom button on your HDTV if you're so inclined to watch it in widescreen. That was how it was presented in widescreen a few years later. I for one, am SO glad this was released as 4:3. That way I can choose to watch it in full or widescreen whenever I want. |

Then all you have to do is zoom the image and get the creaters intended image. Truth is Warner should have included 3 BD-50s instead of 3 BD-25s and included both versions in high def.
