Didn't Warner promise to be fully caught up by year's end? Where's Charlie & the Chocolate Factory?

This movie looks great on HD DVD. Not sure if the extra disc is worth a double dip though.

I also have the previous DVD deluxe edition so I probably have all the extras but not under the same hood.

All the extras on the disc are the same as the HD DVD which is the same as the standard 2-DVD set issued by WB a few years back. The standard 2-DVD disc won't be changing, but will be reissued with new packaging for about $25.

As far as the price of the Blu gift set, I will get it though I do think it is too high, too. Just more proof some ex-red is working in the pricing department at WB, putting things high so when poor sales results come in he can say, "See, I told you we should have dumped Blu instead."

For me its not. I do know that the content (Jack Warner stuff) can be found online in HD and SD. You could always burn that to a DVD9 and throw that in your single disc version.

$65 is outragous. Even if discounted to 50% off its still ridiculously overpriced. Warner better offer a cheaper way to own this movie or this release will flop

Ironically you could get the 360 addon and watch the HD DVD for cheaper than buying this version.

Gonna just keep my HD version. A shame, because I was totally willing to rebuy on blu, provided it was the same overall package and price as what I got the HD for. The last thing I'm going to do is pay MORE for a bunch of stuff I don't need, and furthermore already have.

Even the HD DVD sales were lacking--most of us got it for free with our 2nd gen players. Catalog sales are horrendous on Blu according to Warner--not that they were great on HD DVD. I don't see the PS3 crowd going for this one. Hopefully they will get Gone with the Wind and Cool Hand Luke out soon. They can keep Rebel without a Cause unless they re-master it. The transfer show on MGM HD was DNR'd to death.

Same here. I actually got Casablanca free as one of my 5 free movies when I bought my HD DVD player. Was willing to go after the blu version, but a standard blue release, not deluxe. I hat these deluxe versions. I don't even like the book packaging that Dirty Harry and Bonnie and Clyde came in. Just give me the standard blue case.

And Poseidon. Those are the two I'm waiting for.

I don't either. That's why I purchase those "books" from Amazon.UK.
As for future releases if they release standard packing in the UK that
is where I'll buy even at a higher import cost. Evidently the Studios
think the British are too smart to buy crap cardboard packaging.

Any future "books" I'll either import or do without. And at the U.S.
price of "Casablanca" it should be cheaper this time. Plus, I don't
have to put up with all the security stickers.

I'll wait until the Casablanca: Here's Looking At You Kid edition comes out.
