Default Preorder CALIGULA!

http://www.amazon.com/Caligula-Blu-r...033362&sr=1-31

And it's the unrated version too!

I've heard there are a ton of deleted scenes for this film so hopefully we'll get a definitive set.

I didn't ever hear about this! But... I'm very disappointed if this is the movie only. It's the fascinating feature-length doc on the recent Imperial Edition release that really makes watching the movie itself a treat. In fact, many like the doc better than the film.

I think the price of $21 is way too cheap to hope that the doc is also included.

It's The Imperial Edition

From Wiki on the regular DVD release from last year
Quote:
The Imperial Edition. It features two cuts of the film, the 156-minute print and an alternate pre-release version which does not include the explicit sexual inserts added by Guccione. Both versions have been digitally remastered. Commentary tracks featuring McDowell and Mirren are included on the non-hardcore, pre-release version, and the DVD includes interviews with Tinto Brass, who discusses film's hectic production & botched editing; and Penthouse Pet Lori Wagner, who discusses the addition of the hardcore footage, including the lesbian sex scene in which she participated. DVD-ROM content includes Gore Vidal's original screenplay. Other extras include more than two hours of deleted and alternate footage. The DVD set was to carry a fourth disc with the film's complete musical soundtrack, but Penthouse later pulled the soundtrack, along with any mention of the music (and the people behind it) in the behind the scenes featurettes. The 156-minute and 102-minute versions will also be released separately in new collectible packaging. The booklet included with the 3-disc set includes a discussion of the many different versions of the film, and states that a significant amount of footage remains unaccounted for; the notes include a plea to viewers to contact Image if they are in possession of any footage not included in the DVD set.

Wow... that was quick to get cover art added! I will probably buy this since it's the Imperial Edition (and way cheaper than the Imperial Edition DVD that came out just last year!). This film and its history are truly one of the greater debacles in the history of modern cinema!

Who do you think you are talking to? Ben1080p?

I am a huge fan of McDowell's work. Especially in A Clockwork Orange.

See Ben can't watch this For one he's only 17 and two, if he did his head would probably explode. Take that as you will .

I just meant different, as well... different. You go to remember that he and few of the other actors had no idea that some of the explicit scenes were being filmed. This is really one of the strangest movies I ever seen.

And to think, I use to think 'Clockwork Orange' was kinda strange..... No more

So what exactly are you trying to say? Do you honestly think I have no idea what this film entails?

Stop pussyfooting around and say whats on your mind.

your reading my post all wrong man. I'm not putting CO down in anyway. I liked the movie, I'm just saying after watching 'CalIgula' no movie seems strange anymore.

I think once you see the movie you will understand what I'm talking about. This movie puts stuff out there that I never even wanted to think about. To quote Wiki again, and I can confirm this is right since I've seen it before. Will put it in a spoiler tags case it can be considered as such ans I guess NSFW

Spoiler:
The unrated version, available in the U.S. and mainland Europe, running 156 minutes (NTSC) and 150 minutes (PAL), is the most widely seen cut of the film. It enjoyed a limited, albeit highly profitable, run in the American cinemas. This version contained significant explicit sexual and violent content, including sex orgies, masturbation, fellatio, cunnilingus, anal fisting, male and female homosexuality, cross-dressing and transvestism, sibling incest, rape, male and female urination as well as scenes of decapitation of prisoners by a giant "death machine" (A giant moving wall with lawn mower-like blades underneath it which is unlikely to have actually existed), infanticide, implied fratricide, penile castration and testicle castration.

Is this a good movie? I saw a documentary on this guy on the history channel and he sounded like he was off the reservation. A very cruel dictator, even by Roman standard's.
