saw this about a month ago. not bad, but far from his best work. i'll pick it up since I'm a completist, though.

Yeah, this is not Herzog's best film... but it's by no means bad. It's a nice companion piece to The Wild Blue Yonder when you look at the underwater footage -- that'll be nice in HD I'm sure, it looked great theatrically.

'Encounters' received overwhelmingly positive critical reviews ( 94% on RottenTomatoes! ) during its theatrical run. 'Grizzly Man' director Herzog creates a haunting, yet entertaining and engrossing doc. A definite blind buy for me as I missed it during its brief run.

This one certainly flew under the radar. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I highly recommend it. It has a nice bonus features package. PQ is pretty good considering it's 1080i and it has a decent lossless track. Herzog continues to be the most "underappreciated" filmmaker working today.
