Thanks for bringing that over. I can't wait to see Poltergeist in HD. I hope it comes with some good extras too.

Actually it's released in October. Tried to fix the topic but it didn't chance.

Also it's another "digibook" release.

Thanks for the images.
ugh... are they ever going to add a 'making of' extra to a release of this film?? I remember when they aired one on TV when this was released in the early 80's, so why aren't they including that?

Digi-book FTW.
It seems that in this case what they've tried to do is make this title seem better than it is (and more worth the money) by putting it in a digi-book. Sad that they wouldn't produce any meaty extras, but I'm not complaining too hard because the film is great on its own and I love me some digi-book packaging.

It was on the boxed set laserdisc, too, and worth seeing. I guess they've lost it, although by this point I'd be happy with a crappy-looking videotape dub if that's all they've got. (Actually, more likely nobody wants to pay for bringing it over now that the movie has switched home video distributors a couple of times. Same for the international trailer that was also in the box, I guess. Too bad.)

A few days ago I watched the old Siskel & Ebert review of Poltergeist (you can download it on youtube here, it comes after their Rocky 3 review) and they both gave it a thumbs down! They didn't get it at all, especially Siskel. LOL, were they ever wrong. Poltergeist is a classic now.
That sucks they won't put those on DVD/Blu.It was on the boxed set laserdisc.... Same for the international trailer that was also in the box

Naw, Roger Ebert gave it a thumbs up, as well as a positive review in the Sun-Times.

Warner Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Poltergeist (25th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) on 14th October 2008 priced at $34.99 SRP. Producers Steven Spielberg and Frank Marshall and director Tobe Hooper brought you this 1982 horror classic which returns to DVD this Halloween.
Part of their digibook packaged series of titles, full details are TBC but in terms of extras we expect it to match last year’s disappointing DVD release which only offered the theatrical trailer and the They Are Here: The Real World of Poltergeists Revealed documentary in 2 Parts: Science of the Spirits and Communing with the Dead.
The main feature will be presented in 1080P Widescreen with English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD, 5.1 Dolby Digital and 2.0 Surround. There will also be French and Spanish 2.0 Surround audio tracks and English, French, Spanish, Korean and Portuguese subtitles.

Easily the lamest of the digibook releases so far. Not the feature itself but for the craptastic extras. And yet they have the nerve to charge $6 extra for it than Interview With a Vampire.
