Default 'Stargate: Continuum' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Stargate: Continuum' is up. He isn't terribly familiar with the series and thinks previous knowledge is needed to enjoy this direct to video film. This Blu-ray offers nice (albeit unexceptional) video and audio, and a solid bunch of supplements. For fans only.

There is no way you could understand this movie if you haven't seen all 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1.

Well, I have my confirmation that the PQ and AQ aren't that great.

DVD it is then.

Hmm, this is the first bad review on the video portion I've seen on this, and having watched this myself I'd say 4 or 4.5/5. It looks clear, crisp, free of DNR. Color is hard to say, my SXRD is usually red-heavy and that actually seems to help. Regardless, it's going to differ by screen maybe greatly, even calibrated.

I don't read much of the movie reviews, though I seem to generally agree with Kenneth Brown. I definitely don't think that you need to see ALL 10 seasons of Stargate SG-1 to understand this. It stands on its own fairly well. Well, there's inside references, saying hi to old characters, etc. But, that's all minor and fairly quick. The explanations are fairly good, I'll give it the real test next week with my friend and his wife that never really watched SG-1.

Its a good movie. I don't agree with the score for the movie itself. I enjoyed Ark of Truth and this is better than that.

the PQ and AQ are around 4 stars. the movie itself is very good. does peter even know anything about the stargate series. other than dark city, this was the best movie i've picked up this week.

Why shouldn't Josh be doing sci-fi reviews? He knows the material well. Peter however shouldn't. At least Peter admitted that he wasn't that well versed in the subject matter. That let's people know to not completely rely on his movie score.

There have been so many series and direct-to-video movies inspired by that Roland Emmerich-Dean Devlin box office hit that I've lost count.
Oh come on. Unless I'm mistaken, this is only the 2nd direct to video movie (Ark of Truth and this, Continuum) and two series, currently (SG-1, and Atlantis). The cartoon isn't even really worth mentioning.

Is two really so many? If a review is going to start off with such condecending and pathetic comments, why even bother?

I have totally lost interest in reading Peters reviews. He has made himself a joke. You should read what they say about him on the other forums. He has been caught not even watching the movies (scanning through), he doesnt know the stories of them, changes his reviews later without admiting, or even making a note of it. He also seems to think that if he rips on every movie that it makes him some kind of super movie lover that cant lower himself to enjoy a popcorn movie. It's really quite sad. I wish that this site would send him packing. Having him assosciated with us is not good for the sites credibility. But hey perhaps its just me....... o wait it's not... LOL

Err... Total flub on my part. I meant to say shouldn't.

I agree completely.

I have to admit, this review sucks. If he's that unfamiliar with the series and hates the franchise, why the heck is he the one to review it? The outcome can please nobody.

I'm bringing to the floor a motion to have Josh do a re-review.

All in favor?

got to love it when reviewers rate a movie lower because they arent a fan of or have never really watched the TV series its based on.

Do a little research before you write your reviews next time buddy.
And if you cant write a non biased review on a movie just because its based on something you are not a fan of then dont bother writing one at all.

leave it for someone who can show a little thing i like to call objectivity.
instead of writing a review that comes off talking down to fans of the this popular sci fi franchise.

this is no better than the LA times review of the new XFILES film(which iam not a fan of XFILES by the way but i shook my head at how jerky the reviewer was)in which the reviwer called the main charcters "Skulder and Mully.... Or whatever" that was a exact quote of what that reviewer wrote, just cause he wasnt a fan of the show or prior movie.
people like this have no bussiness writing reviews
