Default 'Dark City' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'Dark City' has been posted. Like many, he's a fan and says this new Director's Cut of the film will only help strengthen the film's following. This Blu-ray is a huge leap forward from the DVD editions, with excellent video, powerful DTS HD MA 7.1 surround, and a vast collection of supplements. Recommended.

It's much in the tradition of a Blade Runner only with more action and more plot.Noir stuff.

Haha, there is always the option of renting! The art of blindbuying is what killed my dvd collection. As for Dark City, I've never seen it either, but it looks promising. Think I'll give it a rent for starters. The review is encouraging.

Side note: three Canadians posting in a row. You don't see that everyday on here!

Completely agree with the review. I just watched the movie about an hour ago, never seen it before, and loved it. Transfer was great as well, wasn't really bothered by the DNR. Nowhere near as bad as Pan's Labyrinth. Extras were solid as well.

I agree with the review as well except for his reason why his audio score wasn't a five. the dialogue was intentionally supposed to be soft. that's what i remember from multiple viewings in the cineplex and dozens of viewings on dvd. i think we agree that this movie is masterpiece.

I did a blind buy on this and have no regrets. It's a great movie.

It takes 8 days shipping from US to Taiwan, so I'll get my copy of Dark City next Monday. I've watched Dark City five or six times on local movie channels; the story is somewhat absurd to me but the atmosphere is great.
Hmmm...now that Dark City is released, I hope my favorite Highlander can be released soon.

highlander needs a ton of work. they remastered the audio for the 10th anniversary edition awhile back and even then it was shady. I would love a remastered excalibur with 7.1 dts ma though, too bad warner won't do it.

What he said....2 of my perrenial favorites from the 80's. Warner's HDDVD release of 'Excalibur' was underwhelming. However, I thought the remastered audio on the 10th Anniv. Ed. of 'Highlander' was a significant step up with a fatter, more robust bottom end.

I've never heard of this film until recently, but it looks great and sounds amazing. I just got this on rental, so will watch tomorrow.
