Default 'George Carlin: It's Bad for Ya' -- pre-release buzz

MPI has set a November 25 date for the late George Carlin's "It's Bad for Ya':

There's no tech specs for the HBO special, but more details should arrive soon.

Suggested retail price is $29.95.

I would buy this had it not seemed like HBO is trying to make money off his death. Was this planned before he died?

Considering this special premiered earlier this year I don't think it is abnormal. Of course this is probably the first hi-def stand-up release I can think of. I have to say, I wouldn't pay 50% more than DVD to see a 70 year old talk in hi-def (I love George, and I think he would agree on that one).

Carlin's last stand-up in High-def? Day one buy. Who cares if HBO is taking advantage of the situation. Demand went up when he died, and they're a supplier.

Duh.

HBO always releases high profile comedy specials on DVD, everyone of George's HBO specials is available...I'm pretty sure George agreed to this since the cd comes out next week and he died less than two months ago...Anyways, first day buy for me, I saw this live last year in Pittsburgh...

This, like all of Carlin's other specials, is released by MPI not HBO/Warner.

I don't see how this is capitalizing on Carlin's death. All of his specials are available on DVD. It's pretty common for a special to air on TV, either of Carlin or another comic, then a few months later come on DVD. They're not even rushing it out, they're waiting until November.

This is an insta-buy for me. I'm a huge Carlin fan and have been wondering if HBO would release this. BD is icing on the cake.

He was extremely funnier when he was younger.

What was incredible about his most recent special was that although his body was failing him, he was still at the top of his game and I personally feel that "It's Bad For Ya" is one of the best routines he's done in quite a while. And I'm not just saying that because he died. I genuinely felt that way the first time I saw it.
