Default 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest' - High-Def Digest Review

'Peter has reviewed 'One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.' He says it's a true classic. This Blu-ray is nicely done, with video and audio as good as the material will allow, and an insightful package of supplements. Not a demo disc, but a must for your Blu-ray library. Highly recommended.

Kinda disappointed with the 3 star audio and video but I'm still picking this one up. Great movie.

I had this preordered but I ended up canceling it. $24 is way too much for a catalog release. What were they thinking?

How does Batman Begins get a 4 1/2 star overall rating and earns a "recommended", yet One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest gets a 3 1/2 star overall rating and earns a "highly recommended"?

Yeah, exactly. I don't quite get your recommendation system, I remember I am Legend getting 5 star A/V and it got a "check it out" or something.

The bottom line should be viewed as a concise summation of our opinion on an entire release, regardless of the average score. While the scores often line up with our bottom line, different variables like price, quality, timing of the release, use of the format and technology, or other extraneous factors can lead to a variety of opinions. In this case, Peter felt so strongly about the film itself, that he highly recommended the title in spite of the average tech scores.

Basically, there is no formula for the bottom line -- there's not supposed to be. It's simply a subjective statement used to convey our overall personal opinion of a release. Just don't try to over think it!

Thanks as always for posting.

I just seen the movie for the first time a few months ago and loved it. Few days later the Blu-Ray was announced . Can't wait for it to come in.

everyone should certainly get this bd imo.
"true classic" was never so true.
the early 70's remain one of the best periods for films ever imo.

I'll pass - I already have the DVD and Warner is sure to double dip with a full remaster.

I like the film and it certainly is a must see/own. But, middle of the road PQ, no new extras (other than the case) and a catalog close to $25. I just don't know if the upgrade over my DVD is worth $23.95.... I'd feel better at ~$19.98

Maybe it is - I'll have to think about it....

How the hell they gonna put High def picture and High def sound on the box art if they're only using Dolby 5.1. Once again, warner effed up their transfer on one of my favorite films. This is Jacks best performance. I hope paramount releases Chinatown anytime soon.

^^^^Well, technically it's 640kbps track - that can only be done on 'High-Def'.....

Still - wish it was lossless. Actually, I would have liked to see them try a lossless mono track.

Probably because this is a much better movie than Batman Begins or I Am Legend. This is the best presentation available for one of the top films in the history of cinema. It would be highly recommended due to the movie itself. I am extremely excited about watching in hi def since this is probably Jack's best career performance and that is saying a hell of a lot.

I just hope this is more impressive than their transfer for the Dirty Dozen. Something like The Shining's transfer would be just dandy. Regardless, it's their best presentation ever for this film and I've got it pre-ordered and can't wait to see it in HD for the first time.
