Default 'Marine Aquarium' -- pre-release buzz

BCI/Eclipse has announced a September 2 street date for 'Marine Aquarium'

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/marineaquarium.html

Apparently, the series has sold over 1 million units on video. BCI will presented three different segments, running two hours, that turns your HDTV into a living aquarium.

Specs include 1080 video, but no audio details yet. It's also billed as a Special Collector's Edition, so we'll hope for "extras" (maybe a dead goldfish in the keepcase?)

Retail is $34.95.

Can you take the fish out and fry them then?

Well, this title will be more entertaining than "Dude, Where's My Car?"

It would be cool if you could mix and match fish. For example, put a leopard shark in with Damsels or a tank filled with nothing but eels. I really don't know anything about this series, is it all digital or just filmed from an actual aquarium?

If it's anything like other aquarium DVDs I've seen, then it's actual footage of a real aquarium.

I think these DVDs are a good idea in theory (nice to put up on the screen as something to just have on in the background during a party, or during christmas morning, etc), but I have yet to see them be implemented properly. When I buy a aquarium DVD, I want my TV to be turned into an aquarium, i.e. the dimensions of the aquarium should be the same as my TV, and I should be able to see all the fish at all times.

But the DVDs I've seen are all "zoomed in" on a portion of the tank, so you can't see the whole tank, and fish swim in and out of frame. It's stupid. I want the full aquarium!

I guess what I'm saying is, if this blu-ray is a full tank view, and not a portion of the tank, then I'll probably get it. Otherwise, pass.

I'll wait for the review, so far these aquarium videos have been less than stellar.

I agree. I have not see one that is that good. Even the yule log that I picked up is nice, but I was expecting something a bit more refined. Looks kinda cheesy honestly with it not being centered all the time.
