On the other hand, I saw it in IMAX four times. I loved this movie, and it's easily been the best thing I've seen this year. The first 10 minutes or so -- the introductory race -- was a masterful demonstration of how non-linear story-telling could be used, giving you all the back story and introducing the main characters without having to bring in Basil Exposition. Then factor in the themes of the personal costs of creating art.
If I had one quibble, it would be with the final insert of Spritle and Chim Chim after the Grand Prix. -

Trolling??? no way, this movie i spent good money on to see in IMAX.
My friends and I went, and it was beyond horrible. two and 1/4 hours of my life i'll never get back. The directors have fallen a huge amount since the Matrix, the editing makes the movie unintelligible. The actors are wasted.
Emile Hirsch as the star of the movie? give me a break. he stunk. Made me think Hayden Christenson in Star Wars Episode 2 & 3 he was good, which he wasn't.
Don't give me spin, this movie is a turd. look at these quotes proving it.
New York Post, Kyle Smith "This adventurously awful film is awful in many ways at once."
San Francisco Chronicle, Mick LaSalle "...if this action extravaganza represents the future of movies, it's going to be a sad, dead and awful future."

Bah, most people are probably hanging on every word and thought from critics and "general audiences" around the world, and not able to think or view anything for themselves are merely trashing the film based on other peoples opinions and views of it.
I'm not saying it was a masterpiece of a film, but I have noticed that the general consensus on this forum is: "If Rotten Tomatoes gave it a bad review it MUST be bad." -

Rotten Tomatoes is a collection of all the major reviews, but word of mouth really hurts this movie.

True, but just because some guy who is acclaimed as a 'top' critic (who I might mention injects all of their subjective opinions and ideas of what a film should be) trashes a film it doesn't necessarily mean its a bad film.
I agree that Speed Racer is not top tier story/plot/character wise but then again look at the source material that it had to work with.
What I am saying is that if we listen solely to critics and never check things out for ouselves we are severely limiting ourselves. Hell Fight Club, The Fountain, Youth Without Youth, and a whole host of other really great cinematic experiences were trashed by a majority of critics and they actually turned out to be great films. Even the Matrix was somewhat trashed when it came out. -

The Bits reports this edition is only going to have Dolby Digital 5.1 (not TrueHD).
That sucks.

^ They are reporting it's on a BD-25 as well. Even more suck! The Bits is rarely wrong. Warner had been AT LEAST giving big-budget day and date releases the BD-50 and lossless audio treatment, so I don't know what the hell is going on here. Unless it's a mistake by the Bits...

I enjoyed themoie and was planning on buying it. Now, not so sure. I could care less about the game. That this a brand new day and date release and is not getting lossless is more then likely going to keep me from buying it.....unless it sells for less then 15.00.
I'll give 15.00 for no lossless. Other then that, I think they will have a hard time recouping money.Panasonic BD30/BD35 & Onkyo 606

Loved this movie. Definitely a must buy.
Blu-rays: 17
HD DVDs: 9
Wants: "Ultimate Matrix Collection" Blu-ray, "V For Vendetta" Blu-ray, "Batman Begins" Blu-ray, "Sunshine" Blu-ray, "3:10 To Yuma" Blu-ray, "Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind" HD DVD.
If you really care about HD DVD, don't get the Xbox 360 add-on and make the same mistake I did
