Default Elvis: Viva Las Vegas -- pre-release buzz

CMT has announced that its upcoming Elvis TV special 'Viva Las Vegas' is hitting Blu-ray on August 19:

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/elvis_vivalasvegas.html

To be made available exclusively through Sam's Club and Wal-mart stores only (a day after the broadcast), the MSRP is a low $18.99.

The special includes rare Elvis footage, new performances by Celine Dion, Joe Perry and Bonnie Raitt, and new interviews with those who knew and worked with Elvis.

Extras include footage not seen in the original broadcast. There's no tech specs yet, but stay tuned.

I think I want to get this one. My guess is that it will be short (~1 hour) and that's why it's so cheap. See if I'm right.

Anyway, I love music performances, since they have a high replay value for me. I'm a big Bonnie Raitt fan. Most of the others I can take or leave, but my wife likes them, which helps with the "Spouse doesn't get high-def" situation.

I saw over at Blu-ray.com where people were talking about how great Anne Margaret was in this.
uhhhhh that's NOT what this is.
This is a recent DOCUMENTARY for anybody who may be confused.
NOT the already released Warner movie from the 60's.

I hate it when companies force you to shop at Walmart. Bryan Adams' last cd is a walmart exclusive, so I'm not buying it. Now Elvis...

I'm an Elvis fan, but honestly this does not apeal to me. Now releasing the '68 Comback Special on Blu-ray, that would be fricken' awesome!

I haven't stepped foot into a Wal-Mart in years and things like only make me more sure of my decision. I hate exclusives!

I'm tempted to pick this up just because, but we will see. The MSRP is actually 24.98 though.

Today (release date) my local walmart didn't have a clue on a Blu-Ray Disc release for this. They had the regular DVD version. It's not even listed on their on line site. Wierd

Just purchased this today, the presentation is in 720p, entertaining though, and some good performances.

I seen both the DVD ($15) and the BD ($20) at a Walmart close to me. Thought about picking it up but I guess I want more of a full concert than a documentary.

I have no way of checking that, sorry. I'll see what I can do.
