Default 'The Mummy Returns' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed 'The Mummy Returns.' He says it's a fun sequel that he enjoyed more than the original. This Blu-ray has excellent video, plus audio and extras that exceed the original HD DVD. Recommended.

Why are the same pictures used for both The Mummy and The Mummy Returns reviews?

The Mummy Blu-ray Review is using the pictures intended for the The Mummy Returns Blu-ray Review, based on the HD DVD reviews. So The Mummy Blu-ray review pics are the ones that are wrong.

Does this have region coding? I'd like to know what Universal's stance on region coding is, now they use BD.

How does the DTS-HD MA compare with the HD-DVD DD Plus? It's worth remembering the DD Plus is 1.5Mbps. I imagine the DTS-HD MA is better but it may just sound louder.

The first film is a 4/5 and this is a 3/5 in that case. There is no way the second film is on par to the original imo.

anyway PQ is:

Mummy: 4/5
Mummy Returns: 4.5/5

as for the AQ i wouldnt know

It seems that Uni is serious about the Audio in their films. Are you listening WB? MA in a 1999 film.

Universal has been referring to the digital restoration that occurred prior to the release of the HD DVD edition. As far as they're concerned, it's still a new transfer of the film since they're marketing the Blu-ray edition toward DVD consumers. They know BD owners who enjoy the film are already going to pick it up whether they outline the state of the transfer or not. Besides, why would a studio remaster a high-def transfer that didn't have any major problems to begin with?
