Default 'Fifth Element' Re-release Coming Sometime in July?

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...9&page=1&pp=30

Paidgeek(a Sony BD insider at the AVS Forums) confirms it on the second page, that's it coming sometime in the next 12 weeks.

The date has not been announced yet, but I expect it to be at least another 12 weeks out.

They will also offer a replacement program(for free) for those who bought the original release.

Hopefully this is true, since I only heard bad things about this transfer.

I wonder if it'll include those of us who got our copies when we bought the Sony BDP-S1...

I'm pretty sure it will include everyone, I don't see why they won't do it for those who got the movie with the Sony Blu-ray player.

Yeah I have no idea whatsoever what the appeal of the Fifth Element is too anyone? I have tried watching it twice now and my IQ feels significantly lower. I can never finish it. This is the reason why I don't keep guns at home. And I can not stnad to hear people sya they use this movie as PQ reference material...what the heck is stellar about it?

I only heard bad things about the transfer. So, someone who is using this movie for reference material doesn't know what the hell they are doing...

You can count on it. They know not to mess up this time.

Wow, that would be great if this is true. The Fifth Element is one of the most eye catching movies out there. I was really disappointed with the transfer that the launch BD had.

I knew I'd get double-dipped on the early BD releases.

I purchased the disc for the PCM soundtrack (which is amazing BTW), but as everyone knows the PQ is absolutely terrible.

I agree with you. I noticed that Peter gave it three stars in his review and said the following: "However, make no mistake, this is a good-looking picture if you're not too critical. I bet the average consumer who saw this disc up and running at their local Best Buy would probably think it was darn swell."

I guess I fall into the catagory of 'average consumer.' Also, note my signature.

It starts out bad with all the print damage. Once you get into the Temple it gets better. It just sets the wrong tone.
