Default '10,000 B.C.' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed '10,000 B.C.' He says it's a truly awful would-be epic. It's also hilarious, in a campy cheese-fest sort of way. This Blu-ray sounds very good and looks even better, but he's not sure this one even warrants a rental.

I heard terible things about the film..Boring as all get out too.
I commend you for watching this crap even if it has some sort of Caveman grunt laughable value.

I agree with the AQ score; the transfer looks stunning. I still think I am going to trade it though because it just wasn't an enjoyable experience. I might try watching it with a few friends first and see what kind of laughs we can get out of it if we take it as a pure cheese-fest experience.

Sounds like an x-box rental when available... I was kind of looking forward to it, looked good in the previews but I think I'll use more caution than to make a blind buy after reading this.

Edit:
What do you know, it's on live.. I'll be watching this some time this week.

Default A Little Perspective!

This was a perfectly intertaining movie! Yes, I also found some moments unintentionally funny. I had even hoped for a little more from it but consider prehistory movies of the past like Cave Man and others. You will not find flaming flatulation humor, the love story doesn't involve dragging the girl around by the hair. No words like Zug Zug! This movie is simple in some ways but far more intelligent than a lot of junk that people think is so great now days. I saw one reviewer lately claim that Knocked Up was on his all time best list. I liked the movie but please! This movie requires suspension of believe as any fantasy movie would. I don't know why people expect it to be historical. There are many plotlines and reasonably intelligent story and dialog to carry the CGI effects. The characters are depicted as intelligent humans set in a primitive society, something that you almost never see in prehistory genre but is more accurate. Insertion of the mystical prevents this from being a simple man against the elements flick so I personally liked it. This really is a decent, enjoyable movie which I did purchase and hopefully the alternate ending is just different enough to not make me laugh again!

I recommend it strongly for what it is. Simple fun.

I just saw this a couple of hours ago. It wasn't horrible, but it reminded me of Waterworld. Not sure why.

Wonder where all the Peter-haters are. I fully expected there to be a bunch of MIB-lovers saying this was the greatest film ever and the Mr. Bracke should be fired! LOL....

This movie was a turd, plain and simple. Looked and sounded pretty good though.

Notes: This is a BD25 obviously. Also this is a BD specific encode, I saw video peaks of at least 36Mbps in the 2 mins I skimmed it. I don't know why they left 5 gigs of the disc empty though, the video ABR could have been ~22Mbps if they filled it. The disc is label 10000_BC_NA_UK so those of you waiting out for the UK steelbook will probably get an identical disc. I am gonna give it a full watch now, and update my post with anything else interesting I see.
