Default 'Natural Born Killers' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'Natural Born Killers' has been posted. Like many, he has mixed feelings about the film. This Blu-ray features a vibrant and faithful video transfer, a strong TrueHD audio track, and an adequate collection of supplements, but this should be rented long before making a potential purchase.

Works for me.. I wish I could rent it like the recommendation but Netflix isn't carrying it.

I saw this movie in theaters back when it first came out. I HATED this movie. I mean HATED it. I'm an Oliver Stone fan and I couldn't wait to see this. Maybe I'll give it a rent if Blockbuster.com carries it but, quite frankly I know this movie has its fans but, I'm not one of them.

I dig the fact that Rodney Dangerfield is in it. I don't know.....

NBK has always been one of my all time favourites. While the graphic violence will understandably turn many away in disgust, I just find myself drawn in by the engaging visuals and kinetic energy throughout the entire film.
I guess it helps that Stone's point of view in this film mirrors my own sarcastic and cynical nature.

As for this Blu-ray release, I am sadly disappointed. Ken's review does note that a variety of sources and film techniques were used to create the movie, but unlike him, I found NO shots to have any hi-def appeal. As it turns out, it didn't really matter, because of the variety in image styles and the fact that within minutes my enjoyment of the film took over anyways. And it was great to sit through it again... although i have seen the film nearly 20 times by my count, it has been years since my last viewing.

I do like the novelty of the Digibook presentation, but the information contained within was sparse to say the least... making it seem more of a gimmick than anything else.

I was never a big fan of this movie and imported it way back when as it was banned in the UK and Ireland. While I understand the point of the film the scattershot nature of the picture with the different films stocks etc just never meant I could really sit down and enjoy it, like PB said some brilliant re-watchable scenes but sum doesnt equal thewhole of its parts. I think I remember Tarantino came our a few years after it was released and disowned his script as Stone had made so many changes as he hadnt written it as a satire.

I havent seen this in years but I was curious how the PQ would turn out as it wasnt exactly shot with HiDef in mind and my fears seem to be confirmed.

I'll probably hold off and get it in a sale but only because of the book cover which makes it a collectible other than that Id probably stick with my SD version

I picked it up even though it is not the DC edition of the flick.. I do have to say the nice little making of that was included on the SD is not include that kinda sucks.

Sigh. I'd get this in a second if it weren't the theatrical version. Help me, Lionsgate, you're my only hope!

I've got the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD. I know you may have heard bad things about it, but I've got to tell you: Never buy the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD.
