Default Forgetting Sarah Marshall on 09/30/08! 2 different sets.

Got this from my distributor:

Forgetting Sarah Marshall will be coming out on Blu-Ray on 09/30/08 with MSRP of $39.98. There will also be a 3 disc edition coming out the same day with MSRP of $89.98.

No idea what will be on the 3-disc set but i am curious to see.

Yeah, the 'three disc set' is really a box-set containing three movies... it has to be.

3 discs, each containing a separate film. 1 disc = Sarah Marshall, another = Knocked Up and a third = 40 Year Old Virgin. It explains the $90 MSRP and makes sense release date wise.

3 Discs for Sarah Marshall would be a bit much.... sure it was funny and I wouldn't turn down that many extras.... it's just...... it's an Apatow comedy - not Blade Runner or anything. Even with every extra in HD, lossless audio and U-control it shouldn't need more than 1 BD-50 (and maybe an extra, BD-25)

Still, the more effort from Universal the better.

IDK, Superbad had 2 discs, so i believe Sarah Marshall will have 2 on its own. But what will be on the 3rd?

Is this the first 2 version BD release ?

And Sept 30th? That is extremely long. Thats 5.5 months whereas only Summer Blockbusters only have that time period.

When will we hear more about it?

very good news that this movies coming to blu, i wanted to see it in theatres but had to see escape from guantanamo bay instead.

i dont think it will be a 3 disc set with this, 40 year old, and knocked up in there.

why you ask?

because the 40 year old and knocked up are the ONLY TWO directed movies by mr judd apatow, he just produced forgetting sarah marshall.

i could care less if it was a 3 movie set anyways since i have the 40 year old and knocked up already on hd dvd.

Yes, Superbad was a two disc set but it was a BD-50 (of which they only used 45 GBs) w/a BD-25. And I believe that had they only included one lossless (TrueHD) track they would have saved a hell of a lot of space and may have been able to fit it all on one disc.

Instead Superbad has three lossless tracks - two TrueHD tracks (English & French) and a space/bit-rate hogging uncompressed PCM track... They were able to fit ~3 hours of bonus features (all HD) plus a two hour movie with three 16-bit lossless audio options, a BD-J trivia track, a few other 5.1 Dolby Digital tracks and keeps an ABR @ 27 Mbps of AVC encoded video in a 'paltry' 75GBs. I doubt Sarah Marshall will need between 100GB (1 BD-50, 2 BD-25s) & 150GBs (three BD-50s) of space for a (shorter than) two hour long movie plus extras.

And if it does, I'm sorry, that just a little insane. Extras a great but over 100GBs worth? What are they going to do, have 10 hours of extras with 'feature' high bit-rates and lossless audio?

Plus, Superbad comes from Sony and they (like Disney) have made it a common practice to put high-profile releases on two disc sets. Superbad was basically on two discs because of 'perceived value'. I don't think Universal will do the same thing and if they are I doubt they'll jump right into multi-disc with a release that has three....

Well what other movies would make logical sense? Those are the only two of his comedies that haven't already been released on blu ray. Really no way it could be anything but those two.

While it is true that he only produced Forgetting Sarah Marshall this ' 3 Disc Apatow Set' would make sense because Virgin, Up & Marshall are the ONLY THREE (good*) films that Mr. Judd Apatow has produced for Universal.....

Plus, both of the catalogs were already released on HD DVD so they count as catch-up titles.

*The other one is Kicking and Screaming.

And why does Australia get it almost a month and a half earlier?
