Three Universal Action Movies Coming in August

Universal Studios Home Video have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of three catalogue titles on 26th August 2008. This ‘action’ wave comprises of End of Days, Miami Vice and U-571. Retail is $29.98 SRP each or you can buy them together as an Action Starter Pack priced at $59.98 SRP.

End of Days

If you want to buy just two of those movies then buy the "Action Starter Pack" and get the third one for free.

Never seen any of the three. None of them really sound enticing to me though. I was hoping the Universal catalog titles would be more along the lines of Bourne, Hot Fuzz, etc.

This is a weak selection of titles. The only title I would consider picking up is U-571. I do hope we get some better titles out by X-mas time.

U-571 is probably the best out of the three and End of Days was so so, but sounded really good on HD DVD with DTHD track. Miami Vice is a garbage movie so the new audio track will not do it much justice. For you very select few who did like Miami Vice hopefully they will clean up the PQ transfer. It was pretty bad on HD DVD.

U-571 should rock the house audio-wise!!

I do hope they re-telecined that film as there were quite a few problems with scratches and dirt on the HD DVD master.

Just FYI, End of Days on HD-DVD came with a TrueHD track so I don't think it's an upgrade in sound just a different track with DTS-MA.
