Default 'The Air I Breathe' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'The Air I Breathe' is up. He says the film is "god-awful." This Blu-ray features a decent (albeit underwhelming) video transfer, a noteworthy DTS HD MA audio track, and a handful of special features that have less to offer than the film itself. Rent this before you even consider a purchase.

If it is anything like Crash then I will be happy to never see this film. I could take that review and place in Crash specific details and thats what I think of that movie.

I wasn't a fan of Crash, it had some really funny bits but was pretty contrived.

The Air I Breath makes Crash look deserving of its best picture win.

well, these ensemble, multistoryline converging movies have been awards fodder for years (see in addition to those mentioned in article: 21 grams, traffic), so it isn't surprising to see more and more of these, w/ lesser casts, and worse storylines/writing. not surprised at all.

still want to see this, although w/ very low expectations.

I thought the movie was pretty decent and the Blu-ray PQ/AQ ok.

I did like Crash as well if that matters.

Great cast, but wow, I've heard so many negative reviews that I just doubt this film will impress me. If it is indeed as bad as people say, then I am amazed that they got so many wonderful actors.

FWIW, I enjoyed this movie. My co-worker liked it as well.

While it makes a bad misstep in the last act, it was an interesting film and the Blu will stay in my collection.

I enjoyed it, and everyone that I know personally that saw the film enjoyed it as well. If the PQ and AQ are as good as the reviewer says they are, then I will give this disc a go!

Wow Kenneth, a 2 outta 5. That's very generous for this thing. I gave it a 1 outta 5. I thought the PQ was actually quite good though. Audio was ok. And that commentary...I listened to about 15 minutes of it until I finally turned it off...it was bad. I've had enough of filmakers rambling on and on about their actors and their "He's the nicest guy" sayings. It really wants to make me puke.

and if i remember correctly, the feedback was so divisive that Crash became the only review to have the discussion removed by High-Def Digest..

Nope, that was Pete.

Brace yourselves and roll out the insults -- I really loved 'Crash.'

I tried to avoid saying so in the review to keep the message board discussion focused on 'The Air I Breathe,' but... God help me... I'm one of the folks who think 'Crash' deserved its Best Picture nod. While I can understand why some people didn't think it lived up to the hype, I never understood why so many people hated it as much as they did.

Thanks as always for posting!

I'm with you on this, I loved 'Crash' but hated 'The air I breathe'. Come to think of it, I very seldom disagree with your reviews...

I think my review at Amazon.com was probably pretty similar to the review here, though I didn't label the film 'god awful'.

Actually I was probably generous in giving the film 3 solid stars (man, I really wish they offered 'half-stars' there!!!), but I really don't think it was that bad. It wasn't that good, but not that bad either. Middle of the road, and hence the 3 stars.

I thought it was ok, wife really didn't care much for it because of the violence both implied and graphic. She's not normally the squeamish type, but she doesn't take well to torture type sequences.

I would stand by the statement that this is more a rental than a purchase for most smart viewers. Unless you are a big fan of one of the stars, see it first and then decide if it was worth buying. You'll probably be glad you saved your money (outside of perhaps a small portion of your Netflix/Blockbuster budget...)
