Default 'Cloverfield' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's review of 'Cloverfield' is up. A fan of the film, he says this Blu-ray edition doesn't disappoint, delivering a surprisingly strong video transfer, a reference-quality TrueHD audio track, and a thorough collection of supplements.

Couldn't agree more, fantastic release.

Actually felt worth every penny, for a change.

I'd put it more like between a 2.5 and 3 stars. Would have been worth four if it had come out several years ago -- like before The Blair Witch Project in '99.

Great review. I cannot wait to see this now. Amazon hasn't even shipped my copy yet though. I had to order a couple things to get free shipping so I guess they are putting it altogether.

In any event, glad to hear Paramount did a good job. I really enjoyed this film at the theater and have been looking forward to it since I first saw it.

i was supernauseaus watching this in the theater. it was almost distracting and i would sit and wait for the camera man to stop running just so i could have a break. i would really be interested in knowing whether this effect is lessened when watching this on television as opposed to the theater.

I thought this movie was no better than 3 stars.

Why, why why does it have a Dobly soundtrack? I'm not using HDMI so I only get standard DD5.1. At least if it was DTS I would get a standard DTS 5.1 at 1.5 Mbs.
Damn. DD 5.1 @640 Kbs and my TV is basically only 540p. I might as well watch the DVD. Of course on the bright side when I do upgrade the TV and receiver I get to watch all these movies again for the first time.

I pre-ordered mine in late April/early May (don't remember when exactly) and it will be waiting on my doorstep tonight.

Prehaps Paramount couldn't buy enough capacity to do a bigger run?

Default Top of the Line review.

Another strong review by Ken (I must admit that I am already used too). This eagle, (Ken Brown) described the film so accurate that reading his review will make you wonder: “How this guy can be so right”.

Quote:
To top it all off, my rear speakers were constantly brimming with effects neatly linked to every object on the screen, regardless of its size or significance.
I don’t know if you had the opportunity to watch the SD DVD version of Cloverfield Ken (I did) and I wasn’t impressed. The rears were not as active as I thought they were going to be. I am glad that the TrueHD fixed this problem, perhaps I may get this film just for the audio.

Cloverfield borrowed ideas from a variety of movies like: Them, The Beast from 20,000 phatoms, Escape from NY and Godzilla but I believe that they made a better product and with the help of new technology and the goodies of CGI Cloverfield ranked (IMO) as the top BIG MONSTER film of this decade.

Once again one of the Fantastic 3 (Ken, Peter and Josh) provided a superb review, accurate and unbiased.
