Default 'The Recruit' - High-Def Digest review

Kenneth's review of 'The Recruit' is up. He had mixed feelings about the film itself, but says this is a fairly strong Blu-ray release, boasting an above average video transfer, an excellent PCM uncompressed audio track, and a decent collection of supplements.

Thanks for the review! Likely just a rental for me but we'll see. I usually take the ratings with a grain of sale. Most 3.5 rated ones I see look pretty damn good to me.

I find that around here if the reviewer dosen't like the film, then they mark the video down. Or perhaps I'm shit-stirring, LOL!!

Don't worry, that's definitely not the case. We've written pleny of reviews in which a film score highly and had terrible PQ/AQ, and where it scored terribly and had amazing PQ/AQ.

It's actually not difficult at all to stay objective about the technical quality of a release -- but just to ensure the integrity of the process, I always write the film review section last so the tone of my adjectives don't gain momentum and slip into the technical portions of the review.

Hope that settles some fear and helps clarify things. Thanks as always for posting!

Ah, and thanks to RandellG for providing me the UK import of 'The Recruit' to look at as well. While it's nearly identical in every regard to the domestic release (meaning there's no need to post a separate import review), it was much appreciated.

I bought The Recruit Saturday, watched it yesterday. The PQ was quite good and I enjoyed the film.

The back cover reads 24-Bit, but the bitrate meter definitely reads 4.6 Mbps. This has been the case with many recent Disney releases.

I though it was alright. I'll wait for BOGO or local BST.
