Default 'Rambo' - High-Def Digest review

Peter's review of 'Rambo' is up. He disliked the film itself (no surprise there -- it currently has a 33% rating on Rotten Tomatoes), but as a Blu-ray release he says this one's a sight to behold, boasting top-notch video, and even better audio.

As usual, I care not what the critics or BD reviewers say--I love me some RAMBO!!!!

It's been in constant rotation this weekend at my place!

My 2nd favorite film of the year behind Iron Man.

I'm glad it did get it's props for being (practically) a demo disc. It rocks!

Rambo is a very polarizing series. Few people feel that the movies are so-so, most either love em or hate em. I fall into the "love em" category (except for part III, which was gutter trash IMO) so I'm stoked to experience them on the best format available. When in doubt, rent and make up your own mind.

Ugh, I really can't stand Bracke's taste in movies.

He gives trash like Blades of Glory a 3.5 star rating and Alvin and the Chipmunks a 3, but gives Rambo a 1.5 and Predator a 3.

I also disagree with Peter's Movie Itself Score. It's at least a 3 and a half in my book.

Rambo is so manly of a film that the only way to complement the viewing is to eat a steak.

I enjoyed this Rambo a lot even though it was totally devoid of any humour or lightness .
The action sequences and the ensemble cast was excellent.
I even thought it showed a lot of emotional touch ,especially at the end where Rambo had likely thought he had half a chance to find a woman for himself and be 'sort of happy in life' for awhile but when the fighting was over she spurned him and went back to hugging the peacenik hypocrite.
I thought the ending in America was kinda lame though.
He should've just gone back to his snakes.

lol perhaps that will be in the special edition, or eventual rerelease on any rambo format. a nice, rare (need the bloody) steak.

what would happen if Chuck Norris were in this, too? would it implode from manliness? or would it be like Aliens vs Predator?

and gosh darnit, 4.5 pq score means i must buy this now.

i agree. i feel like there was nothing wrong with rambo. i loved it! im also easy to please but the movie was accurate and a lot of action. how can that get such a low score? i think he's just hating on sly.

It would require that one eats a Turducken, with a side of steak.

Hahha..this coming from the same guy who said that Smoking Aces was a 2
seriously this flick is pretty stellar. How could you rate it less than ONE MAN ARMY Rambo. This more realistic, more intense, and just Mature.
The PQ was more a 4. It was great at night but a couple of day shots looked softer than Id expect.
The Audio alone makes this a must buy.! 6/5

But seriously. BD.com gives this a 5/5
HDD gives it a 1.5/5

Just shows that we all arent on the same page of preferences.

He also gave American Gangster a 2.5/5

"-- this is a pretty bad (and unnecessarily violent) movie. " I cant believe he wrote that!!! This movie is supposed to be violent, if it wasn't violent, it wouldn't be called Rambo!! I've seen it in the theatre twice, and I think its great! Sure it doesn't have the best story, but it does have some crazy action scenes that you will never see in your life! 1.5/5 is ridiculous! But again, its his personal opinion, what matters about these reviews are the HD/AQ score.

Good review on the disc but the movie itself I believe you totally missed the point. You essentially say that a violence solves things message is "Reagan era patriotism" well whats so wrong with that today. We are in a war on terror and while Stalone choose to not directly involve Rambo in it he did make a clear message in respect of Americas war on terror by showing how absolutly nessesary it is to fight evil. I am glad someone in Hollywood has the balls to root for our troops to win while the rest of Hollywood continues to root for Americas defeat. I'll bet if all the violence in Rambo was against American troops and not against Burmis facists I am sure that it would have gotten a 90% rating at Rotten Tomatos.
