Default 'Broken Trail' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter has reviewed 'Broken Trail' and says it's arguably the best
Western made for television this side of 'Lonesome Dove.' This Blu-ray
is lacking in bells and whistles, but delivers very fine video and
audio. Recommended.

Maybe if it was priced at a Made for TV movie price, id bite.
Im soo much more excited for that 14 buck gem The Proposition.
That looks awesome and at a great price!

If you liked Open Range, then I highly recommend Broken Trail. They have a very similar feel to each other (not just plot-wise, but tonally as well). They are both excellent westerns.

If you are a western fan, you will like this. Duval and Church deliver excellent performances. Good story and good character development. I saw it when it came on TV and didn't hesitate to buy the DVD and will most certainly upgrade here.

Broken Trail was great. But, I'd not pay the prices like that for it.

Nothing but good things I'm reading so far regarding the PQ. Throw that into this equation with it being a good western, 180 minutes, and a reasonable price and that equals a no brainer for me!

I just watched it tonight. Good western with a great story & acting all around.

Great PQ. About as good a PQ as I've seen for a TV mini-series & the sound was good also. Not great but good.

The bass was really deep when the horses were stampeding & dialogue was always easy to hear with a great dynamic range.

It doesn't seem as long as it is.

I rented it & definitely glad I did. It was a welcome surprise.

I want that one too (along with Tombstone!).

Meanwhile, this one really made me wish Amazon would let reviewers use half-stars. Personally I rounded up to 4 stars in my own review, though it's more like 3.5 to me. Decent enough film, but I've seen better in the genre and seen much the same story in other films that I've seen in the past.

I just watched this and have to say it is one of my most favorite Blu-rays in my 130+ collection. The story is very good, the casting is great, and the PQ is very, very good.

I highly recommend this one to anyone.

Yup, have to agree with Jimbo. I had never seen this before I watched in on BD last week but I am sure glad I blind bought it. Wonderful all-around presentation.

Kept forgetting to order this one and I noticed today it was only $16.xx at Amazon. Ordered it. Will report back after I watch it.
