'V for Vendetta' - High-Def Digest Review

Not content to merely recycle the video, Warner also regurgitates the Dolby TrueHD 5.1 Surround track (48kHz/16-bit) from the previous HD DVD

Looking fw to see this transfer in Blu.

I'll be glad when the HD DVD port reviews are over. I hate reading the HD DVD review all over again with just a few added snippets for the Blu-ray version.....

This should be a huge boast for the Blu-Ray format. I mean now numerous Islamic terrorists are going to buy Blu-Ray players in order to watch this hate film in high definition. Blu-Rays numbers are going to rise.

Almost over? Surely the 'Movie Itself" sections will remain the same on many (if not all) Universal films already available on HD DVD.

Also, while The Mummy is getting remastered picture I wouldn't expect this to be the norm for many other Uni-Blus. Almost certainly the 'PQ' section will remain largely similar to the previous reviews in many cases.

And why should it matter if these portions of the reviews haven't changed - it's not like the synopsis of a film changes over time. And if they are using the same encode, why should the review say anything different in reguards to PQ?

As for Vendetta... meh, nothing over the HD DVD that I already own. Pass. Although it's nice to see that Warner is doing the right thing and giving 1.1 PiP and not being cheap with a dual encode.

Also, all the special features are listed as 'SD'. I can't check at the moment but weren't some of the features on the HD DVD in HD.... like the making of or something (at least the trailer)? Did that get downgraded on the Blu-ray or am I wrong.

''Partially 1080p High Definition, Partially 480i or 480p Standard Defintion''. Been awhile since I have seen this on so I could not tell you which is and which is not in HD.

The HD DVD review says "standard-def", so it looks like it's the same. Warner was never fond of 1080p extras on either format.

Already own the HD DVD version, so I see no reason to buy another copy. I can understand why many would be excited though, especially if they don't own this movie in high-definition. It's really a wonderful experience.
