Looks like Echo Bridge might be cornering the market on campy low cost Blu-ray titles for Friday night schlock film fests.
They just announced three new titles: Salvage, Mortuary, and The Big White http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/salvage.html http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/mortuary.html http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/bigwhite.html |

The PQ has been pretty bad for these so far.

Id have to disagree, The Last Sentinal aside which the PQ is utterly atrocious, the PQ on these titles have deserved the 3 rating. They have all been Hallmark mini-series made for nothing but look quite good.
If Echo Bridge are given a good print I think they will do a very good job. Of these new titles The Big White is the only one Id get, I saw it last year and it is one of those undiscovered gems though it obviously takes its tone from Fargo. How this didnt get a theatrical release and drivil like One Missed Call did is baffling. |

I haven't seen any of these yet, but low price, low budget films are important for any format. There is a market because the movies can be lots of fun. With Blu-ray of course, the PQ needs to be very good for the market to buy them.

I'll go for the Big White, the other 2, they don't sound too appealing.

I'd be interested to see what Tobe Hooper is doing these days. Slumming to be certain, but sometimes those types of schlocky movies can be fun. All that aside, I didn't think this would be Tobe Hooper's first film on Blu-ray!! Here's hoping the smaller company that owns the rights to the original TCM (is it Legend Films? Dark Sky?) puts out a stellar Blu-ray of all the content that's on the steelbook ultimate edition they released a while back.

I was wrong in assuming the Mortuary listed here was the 1983 horror flick that starred a young Bill Paxton
