Default 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' is up. He says
the film is a classic, but this Blu-ray is a disappointment. The
video suffers from neglect, the audio is unremarkable, and the
supplements omit many features of the previous DVD. This is a rental
for all but diehard 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' fans.

Wow, sounds like a typical 'great flick, bad disc' type of thing here. I'm definitely passing on this one now.
2 star video and audio...I'd be embarassed to release this movie with this kind of transfer. I am surprised though that there's special features on this disc.

I disagree with that completely. I thought it was easily better than the transfer of the dirty dozen which they rated 3.5 stars. This one seemed clear with the exception of some distance shots which seemed like stills that were blown up and lacking depth. The only real complaint I had with the transfer is the edges at the top and bottom seem to be a little over exposed or something. I really wouldn't classify this as a two. star picture quality. It certainly doesn't match the quality of Mrs. Doubtfire, but I wouldn't say it is terrible.

I'm still going to eventually pick this movie up, as I'm a fan of the film. Nice to see this one get released on Blu-ray. Next, bring on some 'Jeremiah Johnson' for us!

Man! I was afraid of this. I think I will just cancel my PO and hope to find it cheap. Fox really needs to straighten up.

I just don't see myself paying this much for a movie I never seen before, and it having a bad transfer.

This is what happens in the "rush" to throw product out there to "hungry" blu ray owners.

Sad because here was a chance to do something nice for an exceptional film.

These Guyz will do it again, and hopefully, right !

I cancelled my preorder. I'll rent it on DVD to see if I like the film enough to warrant buying a sub-par transfer.

Since I don't own this on DVD and those comparison pics look pretty decent to me I'll still be buying on release day.
