Peter's review of 'The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe' has been posted. He says it's a lavish and entertaining mounting of the classic C.S. Lewis tale. This Blu-ray version is truly excellent, with top drawer video and audio and a wealth of supplements. Highly recommended.

Lots of typos in this one. Mispelled couldn't once, and it was a WW2 attack, not 1.

I honestly have never seen this movie but I have this Blu-ray on pre-order. This review makes it sound like a good decision.

Be buying this for sure.As an atheist i can't see why religion keeps coming up as a topic whenever one of these fantasy movies comes out and am tired of hearing about it.
Next they'll be comparing never-neverland of Peter Pan to Sodom and Gommorah and Tinker Bell to Solame. |

Im a little mad thats its not the extended version. Makes me wonder if Disney is going to try to get up to double dip on a BR version of this film. Ill buy this though at some point, most likely when the Narnia hype hits mefor the next film.

Looking forward to a rent at least, maybe a buy.
There was plenty of mention of the supposedly strong Christian themes. I read the books when I was a kid, and saw the movie, but I really think that parallels to Christian themes are a stretch, and it can be applied to Judaism or Islam just as well. Maybe more so. I think Evangelical Christians see it as Christian parable because they want it to be, and because C.S Lewis was a Christian also. Interesting to compare that phenomenon with "The Golden Compass" As far as I see it, they are both moral tales that have positive messages. Christians don't see that though, because they are prejudiced by the author's beliefs. A typical criticism of people who are anti-religion as Pullman appears to be, is that they lack a standard of truth or of right and wrong. Yet, that is exactly the theme of that movie, the Golden Compass is a standard of truth, although the powerful in society want to deny it. It actually supports that fundamental principle of religious belief. Hence, the two movies have more in common than people think.

I'm not an atheist but I agree the Christian themes are a bit of a stretch. Sure, Asland (am I spelling that right?) has parallels to Christ, but so does Anakin Skywalker. Does that make Star Wars a Christian series?
