Default 'The Orphanage' - High-Def Digest Review

Kenneth's review of 'The Orphanage' is up. He says it's a disquieting psychological thriller that delivers horror the way it was meant to be experienced. This Blu-ray features gorgeous video, a revolutionary DTS HD MA audio track, and a decent collection of supplements. Recommended.

Sounds like everything I hoped for... great picture, great audio, and a great throwback horror film.

Glad to see it's a good disc. This is currently in my Netflix queue.

Hmmm, I think I'm gonna pass on the blu-ray version and just watch this one on the satellite first. Judging from Ken's review of the movie itself (and from other's too), it seems that this one will be one to forget, but that's just me. I'll post back when I've actually seen it though. Heck, maybe I'll end up really liking it.

This is as far from mindless Hollywood drivel as you'll find. Foreign horror runs circles around the vast majority of what America has to offer. Well worth a blind buy.

Any fans of Del Toro's other work should definitely watch this (even though he's just the producer).

Fans of Pan's Labyrinth and Devil's Backbone should find at least a little something here to like...though I warn you it definitely is more of a thriller than those two (and definitely more reminiscent of Devil's Backbone than Pan's).

Comes recommended from me! I bought it.

Was not really going to buy any blus this week. Thought this week's releases looked kind of....meh. Now with the word of mouth about this film, the review, and some of your comments...I may have to consider blind buying this one.

I do really want to buy this one... but I'm worried that Sony might eventually fix the region-lock workaround that has meant New Line's region locking hasn't worked so far.

No date for a UK release yet.

DTS-MA HD 7.1 is identical to the Pan's disc...plays in 7.1 for the New Line splash screen, then reverts to 5.1 for the menu and feature. Huge disappointment.

This is of course regarding LPCM from the PS3 with firmware 2.30.

Excellent news.

I blind bought this because I heard great, great things. I also enjoyed Pan's.

I wish my RX-V863 would arrive already so I could enjoy DTS-MA.

This is going to be a blind buy for me as well. I liked Pans and this looks like a good suspense film. Dont get me wrong I enjoy gore in horror movies but it seems like all movies that come out nowadays are full of gore and no scares or are some type of PG-13 remake with bad CGI(for example one missed call it was bad but it still entertained me so i bought it). I am looking forward to this movie.
