Default 'Untraceable' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Untraceable' is up. He says its a troubling, hypocritical, but well made film. It purports to be a diatribe against the exploitation of violence masquerading as a thriller, but it's pretty exploitative on its own. This Blu-ray has nice video and audio and plenty of extras. This is a case of good disk, bad flick.

The murder scenes in this film aren't even in the same field as Hostel or Saw. There's some marginal graphic violence, but it's few and far between and in no way obscene. Most of it is more implied than shown. Sorry, but I completely disagree.

Probably pass. Last time I bought a good disc, bad flick movie was Perfect Stranger. Still smarting from that mistake of a blind buy.

This will be a blind buy for me but I like Diane Lane so I am sure I will enjoy the movie. good to hear the PQ and Aq are good. I have blind bought a few of the good disc bad flick movie and liked them for what they are so im sure this will be no different. the only one that I regret buying is Perfect Stranger wow that was a horrible movie...

Sorry but...

I thought this was a SUPERB thriller. Very intense and well-acted.

Yes it is gory but it gets it message across regardless.

Very "SEVEN-esque" and Diane Lane is superb.

Really, REALLY recommended if you like suspenseful and atmospheric thrillers.

a frank look at the film's technological inaccuracies, and other production details.

ok, maybe not that bad. but this is seriously the worst mess in misguided (and informed) technophobia since the Lawnmower man..

EDIT: on second thought that was unfair ..and I actually liked Lawnmower man.

but it is this stupid, really. and no more editing.

Being a programmer I find it hard to watch films with extremely unbelievable computer related plots/scenes.

For instance, I laugh everything when I think about how in Jurassic Park a 13 year old girl was able to defeat the park's security simply because she 'knew Unix'.

I thought the movie was decent. I would have gave the PQ a better rating than 3.5 too. I guess it's just a good indication of how much the bar is getting raised on PQ more and more as time goes on.

This was an entertaining rental for me this weekend.

I'm glad I didn't buy it but I enjoyed what I saw.

4/5
