All I can say is: Give us the original! I had a toy of the original series mechs and it was my favorite one, until I lost it (I personally think they look the best, they others were meh). It was because of it that I checked out the original show (all 3 seasons/series). I realize the animation was cheap at times (look at anytime they re on the run, its just a loop) but the story was great and the people were realistic.

I watched Shadow Chronicles and I was shocked. The CGI was crap (look at what they could do with appleseed) though the animation was top notch, and the women looked way to out of proportion. I realize that s the style now, but its not like the original. Oh well.

FUNimation better damn well offer the Japanese audio as the main track. Unlike their release of Dragon Ball Z Broly Double Feature they released on Blu-ray. Which only offered the original Japanese language as a low-bitrate stereo track.

No offense, but what is with all these Robotic/futuristic anime being released on Blu-ray? it seem that's the only genre that's being release on hidef. First it was Appleseed, then Sky Blue and even Freedom:5 and 6 on HD, and now Robotech. Where the heck are all the other genre of anime out there? Why aren't they getting a chance of getting a release on Bluray? such as Ninja scroll, Cowboy Bebob movie, Bleach, or Street fighter: animated movie . I don't care what it is, anything but mecha/robot related on Blu ray. There are too many of them out there already. Give the other genre a chance. I don't understand why it's only Mecha genre.

Btw, in case you didn't know, I didn't like Appleseed much. It was soulless and lack personality, both as a movie and character that were in the movie.

There are no mecha in Sky Blue (aka Wonderful Days). The movie technically doesn't qualify as anime either, since it was produced in Korea, not Japan.

Now that I think about it, you are right.

Funimation has never released a dub-only DVD before.

I listen to the Anime World Order podcast, & then have made a couple mentions about the Pat Labor movies coming to Blu soon.

The Patlabor movies were already released on Blu-ray in Japan. Are you referring to an American release?

I disagree with your complaint in general, but Appleseed is indeed soulless. It's all about the mecha-designs and nothing else. As for Bandai's releases, those shouldn't even count as North American releases since they are released at a price that guarantees they will never sell. I'm sure that if Funimation's titles sell okay, they'll get to their less-mainstream (non-DBZ) stuff in time. The real question is when will other anime studios get on board?
