Default Heroes Seasons One and Two coming to Blu-ray!

Quote:
Universal Studios Home Entertainment has announced they will release 'Heroes: Season One' and 'Heroes: Season Two' for Blu-ray on August 26th. The first season was released on DVD and HD DVD last August, and the second season will be released on Blu-ray day-and-date with the DVD release. No specs or extras have been announced at this time.

The 'Heroes: Season Two' release will be the first global release on Blu-ray for Universal, indicating that it will be available in all territories on August 26th. This also places the previous seasons in the hands of fans a few days before the proposed start of the third season of the popular television series.

No word on whether 'Heroes: Season One' will be a port of the previous HD DVD release, or if it will be optimized for Blu-ray. We'll post more details on all the upcoming Universal titles when they come available.

I know that there's another Universal topic that's too big and too general.

This is some of the most exciting news I've heard since the day HD DVD fell. Bring it! (And now, all we need is WB to bring us all seasons of Smallville.)

Been wondering about this one, loved season one, and didn't get to see season 2 because of my job. Great news today.

I have Season One on HD DVD, I'll probably double dip and get the BD so I have all the seasons on one format.

Nice. I will be getting both. I missed season 2 because I was watching season 1 on HD-DVD.

Great news, I just watched S1 on HD DVD and loved that release, lots of special features - let's hope they keep up doing that with the release of S2 on BluRay.

The complete Season 2 is only the episodes that were aired. So, the Season 2 release will be the complete Season 2.

I heard somewhere that Season 2 was so short because they never really wanted to do a season 2, just start fresh with new characters, but NBC being the little bitches they are, demanded some sort of extension, hence the short season. Does anyone know if there is some truth to this, it's all word of mouth on my end. Regardless, definitely picking up both!

I'm pretty sure that season 2 was cut short because of the writers strike.

Or was it just due to the writer's strike, which might be the obvious answer.

I know that there's another Universal topic that's too big and too general.

"Optimized" for Blu-ray? Oh boy, here we go again...

I do hope, however, that Universal is more consistent with using lossless audio now that they're switching to Blu-ray. As we all know, Dolby Digital-Plus was the studio's default audio codec (with some TrueHD exceptions, and no, not because of space or bandwidth but studio choice). However, I don't think I've seen a single Blu-ray title with DD+ audio, which I'm guessing is because of authoring issues on the format. Although they've come up with some stellar-sounding DD+ tracks, hopefully Universal will bypass this altogether and just bump it up to TrueHD or uncompressed PCM consistently.

Yeah and this is why I worry!
