Default 'Sister Street Fighter/Sister Street Fighter 2: Hanging By a Thread' - High-Def Diges

Peter's review of 'Sister Street Fighter/Sister Street Fighter 2: Hanging By a Thread' is up. He says they're campy, silly and a whole lotta fun. This double-feature Blu-ray release has two movies crammed on a single BD-25 disc, with only decent video and audio, and next to zero extras. He gives it a higher rating since it *is* a double-feature, but says this is for fans only.

One of the best movies ever, probably even more technically impressive than Citizen Kane.

Definitely a blind-buy for me

I bought this when it came out. He forgot to mention it plays at 1080i on my PS3. I dont know if I got a defect copy cause the video gets 'choppy' and 'stroby' a lot of the times where the video image pauses for no reason.

That "choppy" effect seems to be a BCI thing; this and the Paul Naschy double feature both seem to suffer from it. Which reminds me, I have their Sonny Chiba double feature and I really have to see whether it has the same problem.

Honestly? I passed up this Blu-ray in a second because you can get BCI's DVD box set of four 'Sister Street Fighter' films for a much, much lower price. (I paid, like, seven bucks for a like-new copy at Amazon.)
Really snazzy packaging, too. I'm guessing the difference in quality is not vast.

I've got the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD. I know you may have heard bad things about it, but I've got to tell you: Never buy the Westinghouse TX-42F430S 42" 1080p LCD.

I also experienced this "choppy" effect on this bluray, making the movies unwatchable. I have never experienced this on any other bluray or standard dvd. Does anyone out there have a copy without this effect???

I found out that the choppiness/strobe effect was fixed on the PS3 with a firmware update. The disc plays fine on my PS3 now. Just wanted to give a heads up on this, in case anyone was on the fence, since SSF is pretty badass.

If you have a MovieStop near you, used copies of this are 7.99. Same for Killing Machine/Shogun's Ninja.
