Default 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' - High-Def Digest Review

Peter's review of 'Alvin and the Chipmunks' is up. He says it's a threadbare if mildly entertaining yarn, but one that kids will love. The Blu-ray boasts good video and audio and slim supplements. The purchase decision hinges on how often you want to see your kids rewatching this one. For Peter, one viewing was enough.

I make no apologies. I haven't seen this but, if it isn't too much ($24) or so I'll pick this up...or at the very least, put it on my netflix queue. I am a fan of Jason Lee, and I heard this was actually funny. Also, I'm nostalgic for Chipmunks. They make a comeback in the late 80's and I used to watch the cartoon on Saturday morning.

Wow, 3 stars for the movie.

Peter is either the worst movie reviewer or have pretty bad taste in movies.

You're basing this off of one review he gave for a movie he liked that nobody else did? Come on.

I, for one, will try this out since I love cute and fluffy things

I've got it coming from Amazon for $25 with free shipping.

From the reviews I've read it is reference video & audio.

I didn't see it in the theaters but expect the audio & video to be great!

Can't wait to get it on Wednesday.

No, he's not...all of Bracke's reviews are off IMO, I'm not sure what criteria he goes by for the movie rating, but it's definately not a comparison between ALL movies...at least I hope not...

On another topic, does anyone else think that Jason Lee would be perfect to play as Bob Hope? Just look at the cover for Alvin and The Chipmunks and tell me he doesn't look just like a young Bob Hope.

I feel your pain. My little girl wants this on blu as well. I cant get myself to buy this. I must have had 3 naps in the theater during this movie. I think I will get her the dvd instead. I have to start filling my collection with more quality than quantity.

This is a buy for me I liked the chipmunks as a kid and I liked the movie as well. Its not nearly as bad as some people here make it out to be. I am looking forward to seeing the Pq on this one.

The problem I have with this sentiment is that you seem to want to buy this movie to show off the picture quality of your TV and the sound quality of your home setup.

Do you really want to bring a friend over your house, or have a party and decide to throw "Alvin and the Chipmunks" in your player to show everyone how high quality your stuff is? Or don't you already have Planet Earth, 300, The Prestige or some other "reference quality" movie that you'd be much prouder showing off?

To each their own, if you want the movie because you think you'll enjoy watching it then I have no problems with that. It's when people start saying that it's for reference quality purposes that just doesn't sit all that right with me.
