Would much prefer to see the original Hong Kong movie on Blu-ray. That one was very good. The Jessica Alba version, not so much.

I enjoyed the original too. I don't know why Hollywood feels they need to remake all the good Asian horror movies, usually they just hose 'em up.

I recommend everyone go out and rent the original A Tale of Two Sisters before the re-make is released later this year.

Is there one Asian horror film whose American counterpart is equal to or better than the original?

For me, it's a worthy purchase if I could pick it up for less than 15.

Wow, now that you put it that way, you're right.

I'm 100 percent sure that you don't like any movie that isn't ceremoniously praised on RT or IMDb.

I felt that the original Japanese version was silly and not very good compared to other japanese films in the genre. I will skip this release.

Probably a pass for me. I will still check out the reviews to see if it may be a blind buy...but I kind of doubt I will. Love Alba but this one just looks like a waste of $$,imho.

I'm going to side with Lastyear and say that the American version of The Ring was about as good as the original. Of course, a lot of that has to do with the fact that the original was pretty overrated.

I like the American remake of Dark Water better than the original. The Japanese version was a very derivative knock-off of The Ring, but the remake toned that down quite a bit, and Jennifer Connelly was excellent in it.

You're right, Jessica Alba's performance was riveting.
